A Very Merry Christmas Home Tour: Our Christmas Porch & Front Entry
I am sharing our Christmas porch and front entry for a Christmas tour of my home!
Good morning!! Welcome to the first part of my Christmas home tour this holiday season -and Day 5 of my 12 days of Christmas Series.
Today I am super excited to be sharing our Christmas Front Porch and Entry Hall with you! I’m joining up with an amazing group of bloggers for the Very Merry Christmas Home Tour hosted by the lovely Carrie of Lovely Etc. today – so if you are new here, then welcome! My name is Krista, and I love to blog about our DIY and decorating adventures in my “spare” time from being a full-time primary teacher and Mom. I’m a born and bred “housie” (someone whose passion is all things house related – think “foodie”, but for houses) and I love sharing our house exploits on this little bit of the web.
A little history about our home: we have lived here for five years this coming spring and love our home for the fact that it is located on a beautiful lake in the center of Vancouver Island, BC. A newer build (1994), our home started out fairly builder basic, and we have been gradually adding our personal touch to it. We’ve painted and DIYed our way through nearly every room on the main floor {some twice!}, and I think we are ready to tackle the basement next!
Anyhow, let’s get down to the good stuff, right?!? It’s Christmas tour time!!
We have a fairly small front porch, but at least there is a little bit of area to have some fun with. This year I went all natural with the beautiful boughs and garlands that I picked up at our local Home Depot, and I love the crisp contrast of the natural greenery with the red Christmas’y accents.
Aside from the vintage cross-country skis (which I found free on the side of the road!), I think my favourite piece has to be this year’s wreath. I bought it at the Home Depot and added some Martha Living LED Battery operated lights to it (see my full post about adding lights to my natural greenery display here).
Come on into our Entry Hall!
Although not a grand space, I am thankful that it is wide enough to hold a table and a chair. We added the board and batten a year or so after moving in and it added a ton of character to this space. The upper walls are painted Colorado Gray {Benjamin Moore}- we are a big fan of that paint chip and have painted several things in our house with darker and lighter variations of it.
This Christmas I went with a more subdued and subtle feel in the Entry Hall. I wanted to highlight one of our most traditional Christmas decorations: our Willow Tree Nativity Set. This is the one decoration that we have had all the years that we have been married and that comes out year after year. Above the nativity scene I added a driftwood garland, and I rounded out the bottom shelf with some cedar boughs and natural elements like pinecones, birch logs, antlers, and the Faux Fur Mini Christmas Trees that I just made. The new neutral rug is from Ikea, and it is so cushy with the awesome rug pad I ordered from RugPadUSA. The little Christmas Trees are from Michaels.
Across from the table vignette is a wall of hooks that are perfect when we have guests – since we turned our front coat closet into a command closet, I don’t have any other hanging space for guest jackets.
From our entry hall you can head left into our living/dining room….
Or go straight ahead into the newly renovated kitchen…
Come on by to see our Christmas Kitchen
And our Christmas Living and Dining Rooms!
Did you find a little inspiration for your own Christmas decor? Pin it to remember it!

I’m in love with your home, Krista! From the charming entryway to the beautifully renovated kitchen, it’s all so gorgeous! I love all of the greenery you added to your holiday decor. And those skis are amazing!
Oh man, I’m totally in love with those vintage ice skates. I’m adding that to my thrifting list now… gotta have some for the porch for next year. =)
Everything looks lovely! I especially love the front porch; I’m getting jealous seeing all these houses with covered front porches decked out for Christmas….ours is completely exposed, so there’s not a lot we can put there 🙁
WOW!!!! I love how you used a lot of fresh greenery. So lovely. You and I the same style in decor. Love!
Krista, I love it! There are so many gorgeous details that it’s hard to pick a favourite, but I just adore your entry table vignette! The Willow Tree nativity is perfect, and I’m in love with your driftwood garland. Heart eyes for everything! Amazing work! xo
