Affordable Natural Fiber Area Rugs
Are you on the hunt for an affordable natural fiber area rug?
Well, I definitely get that.
I love me a natural fiber area rug… the other day I shared 5 great reasons why you should love them too, as well as my best tip for making them more comfortable to lay or sit on.
One of my favourite things about natural fiber area rugs is that they can be sourced super affordably. And today I’m sharing 10 affordable large natural fiber area rugs that will add all kinds of beautiful, natural texture to your room without breaking the bank.
Some of these are even the rugs that I have in our home, right now!
I’m sure you will find one on this list that is perfect for your space. And this is not, in any way, a sponsored post. These are just rugs that I either own and love or that I personally would order for my own home.
Good luck on your hunt!

Affordable Natural Fiber Area Rugs by Type: Jute, Sisal/Seagrass
Jute Rugs
I think that jute rugs are a better choice for a living space where you are going to be sitting or possibly laying down on the floor- they are quite knobby in texture and not scratchy like sisal and seagrass can be. Because of their neutral colour variations they hide stains easily and from my experience they are quite hard wearing with family usage.
Lohals Flat Woven Jute Rug from Ikea
5’3″ by 7’7″ – USA ($79) and Canada ($99)
6’7″ by 9’10” – USA ($139) and Canada ($149)
We have this in our dining room and previously had one in our living room – and I love this rug. Not only is it ridiculously affordable, but it is super durable and hides stains like nobodies business. It also gives your feet a little massage every time you walk on it because of it’s knobby texture.
Natural Fiber Area Rug by Lark Manor at Wayfair.com
8′ round – $190.99 – also comes in 3′ and 4′ round
We currently have this round rug in our living room and I love it. The round shape works perfectly with out sectional and adds a little interest to our space. The rug is surprisingly comfy to walk on and sit on.
Dresden 100% Natural Jute Hand Woven Area Rug at Wayfair.com
I love the really chunky textured look of this rug – what a great way to add interesting texture to your space.
Maui Jute Braided Rug at Rugs USA
8×10 is $699 USD but usually 70% off
8′ round – $519 USD but usually 70% off
This rug also looks to have a soft knobby texture to it that would be quite comfortable, and is very affordable with the frequent sales that Rugs USA hosts.
Maui Chunky Loop Rug at Rugs USA
7’6″ by 9’6″ is $669 USD but usually 70% off – available in several sizes
I love the fun braided edge of this rug- it adds a very casual feel to it.
Sisal and Seagrass Rugs
Sisal and seagrass rugs are better suited to applications in an entry hall, hallway, kitchen, laundry room or bathroom, or even outdoors. You can use them in a living space or dining room, but I wouldn’t personally choose this type for a living or family room where anyone wanted to spend anytime on the floor as they are a bit scratchy and definitely not soft and cozy.
Osted Flatwoven Sisal Rug – available in 5 sizes
Osted From: Ikea USA and Ikea Canada – in various sizes
We have this in our front entry hall and as a runner in the kitchen and I love it. It hides all kinds of messes and spills and is very hardwearing. Because it is made from sisal it is less comfy and a bit scratchy feeling – I don’t mind it with bare feet but I wouldn’t want to lay or sit on it.
Humarock Area Rug by Alcott Hill at Wayfair.com
8×10 $254.99 or 8′ square $201.99 – also available in smaller sizes
This rug is a sisal/seagrass combo and is very affordable for the size. It is probably less comfy to sit on then it’s jute counterpart, but would provide a beautiful natural grounded feel to a living or dining room.
Maui Seagrass with Border Rug at Rugs USA
8×10′ is $629 USD usually 70% off
Sinnerlig Flatwoven Seagrass Rug 6’7″ by 9’10
Ikea USA ($69) and Ikea Canada ($89)
This is a very casual and basic seagrass rug that would probably be best suited to an outdoor or sunroom space.
Seagrass Four Seasons Sage Rug at Wayfair.com
8×10′ is $335 USD – available in several sizes
This seagrass rug is available in several sizes and would be great as a grounding rug in a dining room, or perhaps a smaller version in your hallway or foyer. I like the slight arrow design in the pattern of it.

Just found your blog and I’m loving it! We have been searching for a rug to go under our beautiful (hand built by hubbie) 9 ft barnwood kitchen table. Our quest for something colorful has been replaced with a search for a natural fiber rug. The problem is the size of the table requires an odd size rug; approximately 8 x 13. Any suggestions on finding a custom size rug that’s affordable?? We do know of someone who will cut & re-bind rugs, however not sure this can be done with jute or other natural rugs.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! It’s been months of searching and we are eager to find something soon.
Thanks!!! Laura
