Classic Christmas Porch & Entry Hall Tour {& a $600 Giveaway!!}

December 1st!

Yay!

Can you believe that it is already here?

It feels like we just started 2016. I knew it would be a good year. And it has been.

And now we are into December; my fave.

It’s got Christmas. My birthday. School holidays. Sparkly lights. Christmas music. Mulled wine. And… decorations everywhere… And I do mean everywhere!

So today I’m pretty excited to be sharing part one of our Christmas home tour for this year; I’ve got our front porch and entry hall all decked out and ready to go.

The best part about decorating early? Now… let’s get started with part one of our Christmas home tour!

front-porch I kept our porch pretty simple and classic; lots of natural greenery with pops of red and blue. I picked up a beautiful natural greenery wreath with red berries at Costco and hung it with some red plaid ribbon. I also bought a natural cedar garland from a local nursery and hung it around the door frame (we have metal cup hooks in the corners of the wooden trim to hang the garland on). Our blue summer pots are stuffed with red dogwood twigs; tons of cedar clipped from our yard; and some berries and pine cones. I also added battery operated lights to the garland, wreath, and the largest of the greenery baskets.

The “baby, it’s cold outside” pallet sign above the bench was a DIY project a couple of Christmas’ ago; and the giant chalkboard is a fun way to add a festive touch to our porch. The old cross country skis were a freebie from the side of the road! I bought the snowflake pillow at local decor shop last year; and the plaid throw is actually a large plaid blanket scarf that doubles as a decorative throw!

Now let’s head inside!!

entry-hall

It was fun to add some classic Christmas spirit to our entry hall this year; I went with natural greenery and pops of red to contrast with all the blue and our map wallpaper. The red beetle pillow that I ordered from Craftberry Bush (through Society 6) is my favourite new addition this year; along with the pine garlands that I picked up at Costco. I’ve used them throughout the house this year and I can’t get over how realistic they are.

Did you see my tutorial for my “Let it Snow” wreath the other day? And I’ll be sharing my tutorial for that U-Cut Christmas Tree Sign in a few days, as well! classic-red-plaid-christmas-front-porch-and-entry-hall-31

I would have loved to include my nice blue Hunter boots in this photo shoot as I’ve seen so many entry ways with pretty rain boots all decorated up for the Christmas season; but mine are relegated to the garage as they are literally caked with mud. On the real west coast they don’t cancel outdoor soccer for a little bit a rain. Or even for, say, 50 mm (2-3 inches) of rain. So the boots were out.

This old trunk was a vintage piece from a garage sale a couple of year’s back. It was a child’s toy trunk back in the 1940s. And, yes, I actually have two real gifts wrapped! That’s a new record for me, I think – two gifts wrapped by December 1st. classic-red-plaid-christmas-front-porch-and-entry-hall-7
