Our Coral, Navy, & Teal Master Bedroom & Ensuite

I have created a master bedroom that I love in tones of coral, navy and teal!

Is your master bedroom a space that you love?

Is it a bedroom space that you have spent anytime finishing?

I hear from so many readers that their master bedroom is the absolute last space on their agendas, and I think it is such a shame.

Don’t get me wrong. I totally understand the focus on other spaces in your home – the “public” spaces.

But I also think that it is really important to have a master bedroom space that you love.

That relaxes you. Or that, perhaps, energizes you. Either way, a space that you love being in.

Our master bedroom is definitely not on the relaxing side of things.

It’s not a calm, neutral, all white, or pattern-less space. Completely the opposite, as you can probably tell.

But it makes me happy.

It’s cheery. Colourful. Fresh. And full of art and bold colour; patterns and fabrics that I love.

And you know the best part?

It cost next to nothing to decorate!

The DIYs for this space are numerous: the white dresser makeover, the Ikea dresser hack, the board and batten feature wall, the coral nightstands. Plus the headboard (which I’ve never shared but was a fun DIY none-the-less). Basically everything was thrifted or DIYed or collected over time.

The result being a space that we love… and that I can’t wait to share with you today.

The bedding is fairly new – I love to change it up every year or so. This recent duvet cover was picked up at HomeSense and I love the fun hint of coral on our bed. The navy pillows and the throw over the ladder are both from HomeSense and the pillow I made from some beautiful floral fabric from Tonic Living.

There are colourful pillows on the bed by the turquoise headboard.

We made the headboard using some Premier Prints fabric, and the nightstands were painted with two colours of Country Chic chalky based paint with a gold wax on top. The rug was on clearance at Rugs USA.

A bright coral nightstand beside the bed.

Blue, Floral and white pillows on the bed.

There is a sunburst mirror above the bed on the wall.

The beautiful sunburst mirror is a recent addition that I picked up at HomeSense…

A turquoise and white headboard is on the bed.

Of course our favourite part of the room is that is views out to the lake: I made the curtains last year with some blackout liner and white linen. I love the neutral hit of them against all the other colour in the room. The aqua linen effect dresser is an Ikea Tarva hack.

A sliding door with a view onto the lake.

There are colourful pictures on the wall beside a blue birdcage and a giant letter A.

The gallery wall is definitely my favourite part of the entire room. Those floral paintings (prints by the artist Shirley Novak – Meadow Suite 1 and 2) are definitely an absolute fave of mine.

I DIYed the LOVE pallet sign using an old chunk of pallet wood that we found on the side of the highway!

The pictures and mirror on the wall.

A white chest of drawers is under the pictures in the room.

And since I rarely, if ever, share our ensuite, I figure I might as well give you a glimpse into this space today! The walls are in Benjamin Moore’s Ash Blue, the board and batten was all DIY and is painted out in Cloud White. We took an old 80’s style melamine vanity and added new doors and hardware, then put up some new large mirrors and framed them out with MDF. The light fixtures are Martha Stewart brand from Home Depot. The rug was ordered from Joss and Main.

A white vanity and turquoise paint colour is on the wall.

A large mirror is above the white vanity in the master bathroom.

There are starfish on the wall in the bathroom.

Well, that’s it! Our full master bedroom and ensuite.

Well, except the walk-in-closet.

I fear that if I showed you that disorganized space you may have some heart palpitations.

I know I do.

And the closet is definitely a space that ranks high on our list for a makeover this coming year.

Stay tuned!!

I also shared two other tours of our home recently…

And… guess what?!?

Today some of my Canadian blogging friends are sharing a summer home tour or room tour as well!
