DIY Wood Round Magnets and Push Pins

This easy DIY wood round magnets and push pins will keep you organized in style!

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. We were lucky enough to have mild weather and got out for a walk in the forest on Saturday. The boys always love that- especially splashing in the mud puddles. We also spent some time tackling our garage- it is much better then it was but there is still a long ways to go with it.

Today I want to share a super easy craft that will add a little pretty to your attempts to stay organized this year: DIY Wood Round Magnets and Push Pins. I shared these cute and easy wood round magnets and push pins a couple of weeks ago over at Twelve O Eight but in case you missed it… here ya go!DIY Wood Round Magnets and Push Pins by The Happy Housie for 1208 poster.

For this project you will need:

  • Wood Rounds – you can buy these at craft stores but I had my husband use his compound mitre saw to slice a branch from our yard into thin rounds.

  • Magnet rounds and flat headed push pins
  • Glue – I used a stronger permanent glue for the magnets and my glue gun for the push pins

These are a quick and easy project to make – simply glue the magnets to the back of the wood round using a strong permanent craft glue. I used the Quick Grip glue you see pictured above but you could also use E6000 or Gorilla Glue, among others. I simply used my hot glue gun to attach the push pins.

These cute little magnets and push pins add such a fun touch to your fridge, magnet board, or cork board.

I used some on our fridge to hold up the latest artwork, To Do lists, and our menu for the week. I also used some on the inside lid of our new DIY Vintage Tool Box Charging Station.

I am totally loving wood rounds lately – did you see the other fun DIY project I made with them a few weeks ago? These Chalkboard Wood Round Wine Charms…

Were you up to any big projects this weekend? Organizing? Or little projects?

Thanks for reading. And remember my housie friends, HOME isn’t built in a day. Enjoy the journey.

  1. Those are really cute! I love the look of the natural wood. I am getting really into using branches for decor in the house. I made 2 sets of log candle holders that I use TONS (birch ones here http://lifeovereasy.com/diy-birch-log-candleholders/ and then some gold dipped ones here http://lifeovereasy.com/etsy-feature-gold-dipped-log-candle-holders/ that turned out really cute). And I just made a branch curtain rod, but I don’t have pics up yet. I do love these little magnets – I might have to make some up for the office. And those wine rounds – adorable! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I love this! I just made a chalk board/magnet board for my garage-shop and was looking around for some magnets but couldn’t find any. Now I know what I can make for that board. Thank you!

    1. They are pretty easy to make! When I glued the magnet ones I used a stronger glue then my glue gun because I have had bad luck with magnets sticking to things with my glue gun… they usually end up falling off eventually (I used something called Quick Grip but you could use E6000 or something similar). Good luck!!

    1. Thanks Virginia!! The mitre saw definitely comes in handy for all kinds of projects:) I don’t actually operate it myself all that much but it is pretty easy to use!

  3. What a simple & great idea! With all the school papers and notices that float around my house, I really should be organizing them on to a board of some sort with magnets or push pins! I think I see a mitre saw and some wood in my very near future!

    1. Oh, I hear you Jo-Anna- we have a ridiculous onslaught of paper entering our home daily. And I imagine it is only going to get worse!! Thanks so much for coming by:)

    1. Thanks Deb- it is super simple and fast… but we definitely need a lot of magnet and pins around here with all the paperwork that comes in with my boys on a daily basis!

  4. Hi Krista! This is such a great idea, because as far as I’m concerned, we can never have too many magnets or push pins. Plus, it always seems like we can’t put our hands on one when we need it! Love the rustic look using the wood rounds. Pinning! Hope you have a happy Monday!

    1. Hi Cindy!! I made some cute ones a few months ago by simply gluing buttons onto flat headed push pins – those are still some of my faves. Thanks for coming by!
