Easy DIY Chalkboard Labels {from laminate samples}

Today I can’t wait to share this simple and frugal way to make these easy DIY chalkboard labels from (wait for it…) laminate samples! The great thing about these is that they come in the perfect size, with a little hole at the top that makes them easy to attach to baskets.

I’m still working on some organizing projects for our bedroom closet. The other day you may have seen our new chevron hook rack for the closet  and you may have noticed the beautiful baskets that I found to use on our top shelf . They were a major score at $3.99 a piece (75% off sale!). Well once I got everything stored away neatly in them I knew I needed to figure out a way to label them since about two minutes after I put the baskets away I had already forgotten what was in each one (I guess it is getting a little late to blame baby brain now that my “baby” is three).

To make these I started with some laminate samples and some of my DIY chalkboard paint…

I painted the back side of them rather then the laminated side…

To add a little color I added a strip of washi tape along the bottom edge and then labeled them using my chalk paint pen….

Lastly I tied some twine through the holes so that I could attach them to the baskets…

Wasn’t that easy? You can always pin this to remember it…

 Now I won’t forget what I have so neatly stored away in each of these baskets…

 A few more projects and our closet should be fully organized – then the task is just to keep it up!

Have you been up to any organizing projects lately? What are you purging? Organizing? Repurposing? I would love to hear about it!

Thanks for reading. And remember my housie friends, HOME isn’t built in a day. Enjoy the journey.

    1. LOL Christy! That is pretty much what my sister-in-law said… she laughed at our taxes next to all that kind of stuff too. For some reason my husband likes to store our previous years stuff (that we need to hang onto for seven years or something….) in our closet. Oh well, I go with it:) At least it is in a pretty basket now! That makes all the difference – haha.

    1. Hi Cindy! I can’t count the number of times I have done the same thing and then it all starts to get mixed up and you have to go back and reorganize… Labels make such a difference! Have a great Friday yourself:) Thanks for your visit!
