Easy DIY Pinecone & Pompom Garland
Good morning, friends!
Did you happen to see the winter mantel decor that I shared last week {okay. so I might be slightly obsessed with my mantel right now.}
Well, one of my favourite parts, aside from those sweet little bottlebrush trees of course, is the simple little DIY Pinecone & Pompom garland.
I love this for a few reasons.
- It’s super neutral so you can hang it anywhere and it adds a cute rustic touch without being too busy or distracting
- I made it for next to nothing out of super simple materials
- It was fast and easy to make {my kinda craft}
- It’s adorable. Oh, that’s a variation on my first point? well, it’s true
So anyhoo… this one’s so cute and easy to make, let’s get started, shall we?
All you need to do is gather some small white pompoms, rustic twine, your glue gun, and some small pinecones. You could probably use larger pinecones instead, but I love the delicacy of these tiny ones.
They sell small pinecones on Amazon, but you can also gather them in nature. We collected ours on a walk at a nearby park. I hadn’t planned to, I just saw these sweet little pinecones, knew I needed them, and started stuffing my pockets.
To make this, just decide on your spacing – I put mine every 4″ along.
Stretch your twine out on your work surface, and then simply alternate gluing on a pinecone with a white pompom.
I used a 4″ long piece of yardstick to help me keep my gap consistent as I went along alternating and glueing.
I love how this little garland comes out every year in the fall and stays around until the spring. But I think it particularly suits winter because the tiny white pompoms are slightly reminiscent of mini snowballs.
Works perfectly with these snowy bottlebrush trees, don’t you think?
