Gold and Green Early Spring Mantel

The other day when I shared my Gold and Green Ombre Spring Sign you got a mini glimpse at our “Gold and Green Early Spring Mantel”…. and today I am here to show you the rest of it.

I am absolutely loving the way the gold and green look together… and the hits of yellow are so springy with the green that, despite the weather outside, I can imagine that spring is here!

To create the gold bird’s nest art I just painted a little canvas and easel set from the dollar store with gold craft paint, and then glued on a nest (also picked up at the dollar store)…..

Actually, this mantel has quite a few dollar store items…. like the little clay bird that I also painted gold. And next to it is a 50 cent clay pot that I painted out white…

The tall grass in the pot is from Ikea, and I got the moss covered balls (I can’t think of another way to describe them!) at Michaels last summer on CLEARANCE!

Even the little green double pot with the handle is from our local Dollarama (where everything is not $1 – that was $3… but worth it).

And of course the springy painting was picked up at a garage sale last spring and will make it’s way back to our living room gallery wall again soon.

Oh, this mantel just makes me feel warm all over. Which is great, given the cold pouring, pouring, pouring, rain we have right now…

Yup… I think the warmth of the gold makes it feel cozy while being fresh and crisp with all the green and white. I love color. It is crazy how much it can influence a mood.

What do you do for early spring decorating? Do you wait for Easter, or start to put hints of spring into your décor earlier? I am always so excited for spring by the time March rolls around and can’t wait to get going on spring decorating.

Thanks for reading. And remember my housie friends, HOME isn’t built in a day. Enjoy the journey!

  1. Uh! I get so grumpy when things cost more than a dollar at the dollar section. But I agree the green pot was totally worth it. I think the nest on the gold canvas is my favorite part. Lovely as always, Krista! 🙂
