Gold and Green Ombre Spring Sign

I created a beautiful green ombre spring sign, and I am sharing the tutorial here!

I have finally made a little foray into the stunning world of gold with my most recent mantel décor- and I am excited to share this super easy and quick Gold and Green Ombre Spring Sign tutorial with you today.

I must confess I used to have a major aversion to all things gold but with all the beautiful projects I have seen lately it has grown on me like moss on our roof.

This project was crazy thrifty for me since I owned all the supplies I needed. I don’t own a silhouette (#firstworldproblems) so I used scrapbooking stickers instead. I also used white and gold craft paint and an inexpensive canvas from the dollar store. I needed to do some touch ups so I used a gold paint pen for that.

I began by painting my canvas with a couple of coats of my gold paint. The color doesn’t really show accurately in this picture, it really was a lovely deep shade of gold. I then  placed the scrapbook stickers down  and tried to press the edges down as firmly as I could to prevent paint from leaking through.

Putting the lettering on the sign.

Then, I just did one coat of paint- I started with white at the top and green at the bottom and gradually blended them to create an ombre effect- it is pretty easy to do and you can’t really mess it up since you can add more of either color if you need it to go darker or lighter in an area. Play with it until you get the effect you like. Painting the sign.

Once it has fully dried, you carefully peel off your scrapbook letters. If you actually own a silhouette you likely won’t have the ugly leakage that I had. Nothings perfect.

So I just fixed that up with some careful work with my gold paint pen. Like it was never there.

I liked how this was such a quick and easy project and am surprisingly in love with the gold touches on our early spring mantel- do you like it with the green and yellow? I do… Proves gold doesn’t have to be heavy and elegant but can be cute and fresh too, in the right combination.

So shimmery and pretty…
