Living Room Tweaking Progress {or lack of…}
Last week was definitely all quiet on the western front with regard to my One Room Challenge progress.
I barely posted. I didn’t share my ORC Living Room Tweaking progress because, frankly, there was none.
Or almost none, anyhow.
Have you heard of the One Room Challenge before? It is a blogger challenge hosted twice a year by Linda from Calling it Home…. Bloggers try to makeover a room in their home over six short weeks!
And really, it’s four weeks, because the first week is where we share our plan and the last week is our reveal.
We have been working on completing another big project in our home that took all my spare attention and energy last week, but now it is finished I can switch my focus to the living room again!
I’m so excited and want to get this space finished off so we can move to our outdoors.
Is anyone else as excited about late spring as I am? I can’t wait to get our deck washed and cleaned up and set up… the warmer weather is on it’s way and I love sitting outside for as many months of the year as possible.
But, I digress from that and let’s get back to this lack-of-living-room-progress-situation.
Maybe you saw my first ORC post where I shared my inspiration?
Well…
Since then I did manage to refinish an old hutch to be a Media Cabinet.
And then last week I got absolutely nothing finished!
Here is my “living room tweaking” list:
Refinish Media Cabinet- Paint bookcases
- Buy or make new curtains
Choose and order blinds from Blindster- Order art for gallery wall from Minted
Order couch from WayfairFind some new chairs- Look for lamps
- Paint the walls with Benjamin Moore Simply White
- Accessorize and finish off the space
Okay, so I guess I have a few things done.
But the big jobs, like painting the walls and bookcases still need to be tackled.
We did get the furniture moved around this week though. The sectional will be finding a new home in our basement as part of our basement family room makeover project {about which I can’t wait to share details!!}.
So now our old sofa is back in the living room and I am liking the scale and size of it better in the room. I love love love my Ektorp sectional, but feel it took over too much of the room and love the open feel of having a sofa and two chairs instead.
What do you think? Do you like the scale better?
Here is our room a few weeks ago with our sectional…
And here is the living room with a sofa and two chairs against the window… {oh yeah, the curtains went to the basement as well so we have no curtains and an old sofa in our living room right now}.
I did find some chairs I love and ordered them from Wayfair, so I can’t wait to see them in the space. They are a slightly larger scale then the white Ikea chairs so I think they will fit perfectly under our window. And I’m hoping that they are ridiculously comfortable so that my husband let’s me move the old leather chair to the basement.
I ordered two. Isn’t it pretty?
I know that the bookcases look super awkward right now in their unfinished wood “finish”, but I plan to remedy that soon… I’m hoping they will look better white. And maybe with the walls painted. Because right now I’m really not loving it.
Well wish me luck as I attempt to tackle these last few bigs jobs {aka, the majority of this project} in the next week and a half!
Beautiful! What is your paint color on the wall in these pictures?
Hello! The light blue in the living room/dining room and kitchen is called Whispering Spring by Benjamin Moore. Thanks!
WHERE IS THE LIGHT FIXTURE FROM?
Hi Christina – I ordered it from Wayfair as well. I shared the link to it in this post.
I can’t wait to see the finished space; it’s going to look great! I think the new chairs + that sofa will be the perfect scale for the room. <3
Thanks Christina! I am getting giddy with excitement for finishing this up!!
It looks gorgeous! I especially love the soothing palette.
You have got an awesome living room already, those windows are incredible. Definitely think living room better with couch and two chairs. Your living room is great size.
Our living room in KY house was big, could do so much more with it. Sure miss that house. Wish climate had agreed with me there so we could have stayed. It is nice to be close to our daughter/family here (western CO). When we lived in KY our oldest son/family lived close by. After we left he got divorced, moved back to San Diego area. His boys and ex-wife still live in KY.
Will be looking forward to final reveal on your room challenge, imagine will be breath taking.
Have awesome weekend.
