Master Bedroom Makeover Progress: Week 5 One Room Challenge

ORC-LP-250x183

Seriously??

Week FIVE of the One Room Challenge?! How did this happen?

Time has been racing by! In one week from today I need to be sharing my FINAL REVEAL of our master bedroom and walk-in closet!

Have you heard of the One Room Challenge before? It is a blogger challenge hosted twice a year by Linda from Calling it Home…. during which bloggers try to makeover a room in their home in just six short weeks!

Maybe you saw my posts the last few weeks where I shared…

Well, today it’s time for a progress update… and I have a little bit to report. Like, really, a little bit…

First up – our beautiful pillows arrived from Tonic Living!! Yay!

I. am. absolutely. in. love!

Did you see me share them on Instagram?

The pillows are made in the prints Windsor Park Palm and I also ordered fabric in Mill Reef Palm to upholster a little bench with. I got an extra long pillow for the bed made in Zia Birch, Navy – it was so great to be able to order it custom even though it’s not listed on the Tonic Living site!

I also managed to get the light fixture painted and I shared the awesome new DIY tool I used for that, yesterday!

So where are we at with things?

At least everything has finally arrived!!

Our new ART!! From Minted

I immediately placed the framed prints on the nightstands – I plan to hang them, but I wanted to check out how they looked, and I love them! This is called Tide Pool.

My gorgeous 8×10 prints from Minted – I LOVE them and will be sharing all the details on how I chose them and on creating a lovely high end looking gallery wall on a budget.

The frames. I ordered 10 of these Ribba frames from Ikea – they are 16×20.

And the extra wide mats!

Aren’t these fab! That way I can use a larger frame and a smaller print – and I think the extra white space on the mats is going to provide a super graphic look for the gallery wall above our dresser.

Also…the wallpaper for the closet arrived from Walls Need Love!! It’s called The Palms in White.

Isn’t it lovely?!?

And…. our hallway right now is currently monopolized by this:

The PAX closet units!! I can’t wait to get these babies setup and installed… but I see many hours holding an Allan wrench in my near future.

There are a few more tweaks to decide upon. I still need to figure out a situation with a dresser and a mirror… I hope to be back on Monday sharing my plans for those!

Here’s what is left on the list:

So far, I have finalized the details on:

Master Bedroom

  • headboard
  • nightstands
  • fabrics and pillows
  • Select and order a large area rug
  • DIY Project: paint the alternate lighting
  • Sell our old headboard and rug
  • Put together the headboard and nightstands
  • Install the newly painted light fixture
  • DIY Project: build and upholster a small bench
  • DIY Project: full length mirror makeover with matte metallic paint
  • DIY Project: paint the Tarva dresser?? I need to figure out if we still need it… and if so, I think I will paint it with a combination of this and this
  • Assemble the art in the matted frames and hang the new gallery wall
  • Unroll the rugs and put them in place

Walk-in Closet:

  • confirmed the delivery date for our PAX units
  • decided on the feature wall (wallpaper ordered)
  • select and order a small area rug
  • Put up the wallpaper
  • Install the PAX units
  • Install the new lighting
  • Organize and accessorize the closet (and purge!!!)

So….

It’s still a lot.

Fingers crossed that we get there!
