Master Bedroom & Walk-in Closet Inspiration Board and Progress {ORC Week 2}

Week two already! Where did that week go?!?

I don’t feel like I’ve made a whole lot of progress on my Master Bedroom & Closet makeover project.

I was a little sick at the end of last week. And then it was a holiday weekend…

Somehow it got away on me.

And the truth it, I haven’t actually done any work.

At least not physical work.

But lots of plan-making. Inspiration-finding. Resource searching. And ordering.

And now…

I’m waiting.

If you aren’t sure what I’m talking about, then let me explain.

Last week I announced that I was jumping into the One Room Challenge again this fall and that I am going to transform our Master Bedroom and Walk-in Closet within the next six weeks.

The One Room Challenge before is a blogger challenge hosted twice a year by Linda from Calling it Home…. in which bloggers try to makeover a room in their home over six short weeks!

And really, it’s four weeks, because the first week is where we share our plan and the last week is our reveal.

Maybe you saw my post last week where I shared the “before” of our master bedroom and walk-in closet as well as all the details about the parts that I want to change and the parts that we want to keep the same.

Though, admittedly, as I work on my plan, the parts we want to keep seems to get smaller in proportion to the parts we want to change. Eek.

Why is it that projects always seem to snowball like that?!

Here is how our bedroom and closet are looking about now…

So here’s the thing.

Like I said; I haven’t gotten all that far this week…

I mean, physically, at least.

But I do have a plan, and I feel like it’s all coming together:

I ordered a new tufted, upholstered headboard from Wayfair Canada

As well as these beautiful mirrored nightstands

A couple of months ago I ordered a new light fixture for the dining room, so I’m planning to move the current dining room globe fixture into our master bedroom, and I also ordered a matching but smaller globe pendant for the walk-in closet:

I’ve also been working on selecting some new artwork from Minted and a beautiful pillow combination from Tonic Living. I haven’t quite made up my mind on these pieces yet, and I’ve put the main combinations I’m considering on my inspiration board (above).

So far I am pretty decided on Windsor Park, Palm pillow and Mill Reef, Palm but haven’t selected a third (middle choice) quite yet…

I’m planning to stick with the same paint colours that we already have (see all our house paint colours here). The Cloud White on the current board and batten wall behind the bed; and the other three walls which are painted in Seafoam. These colours work well with the adjoining ensuite, which is painted in Ash Blue (last colour):

I’ve also been looking at a couple of different rug choices. I’m really really loving traditional overdyed rugs right now, so I’d love to get one of these:

The Surya Mykonos in Olive and Teal

The Surya Aberdeen in teal and charcoal

For the walk-in closet I have ordered the PAX wardrobe units from Ikea and I am desperately hoping that they will arrive in time! I haven’t ordered this exact configuration… but it’s somewhat similar. There will be one system for each side of the closet.

Along the back wall I hope to do a feature wall, and I’m considering a couple of different options right now (stay tuned!!). I’m also hoping to redo an old boring mirror with some trim and some beautiful Modern Masters metallic paint – either in Silver (top) or perhaps  Warm Silver (bottom):

Well.

What do you think? Anything you love? Anything you absolutely can’t stand?

Here we are. Onto week three. Let’s hope a little more actual work starts to happen this week! I can’t wait for my materials and supplies to arrive so I can get going:)

  1. I love the colors you have chosen! So bright and happy.

I am loving the rug in the teal and charcoal.

I love those storage units from IKEA
. Our walk-in closet is so tiny and packed full of my Craft Supplies and my hubby’s decaying old obsolete computer components, too 🙂

I love the Warm Silver paint the best as it would warm the place up and make it cozier bring out the details of the architecture of the frame better.

  2. Good planning takes time. 😀 I am swooning over that rug in your inspiration image and I really am embracing the colors you are working with. Green has been neglected for a while. It looks fresh and inviting in your concept.

  3. I can’t believe how quickly the first week went for us too! Thankfully our girls were in school on Monday, which made it easier for me to get things done. I love your color palette. And since your room if pretty gorgeous to begin with, even if you don’t get much done, at least it won’t be a disaster, right?
