Perfection Chair with Gold Wax & Gold Dipped Legs

Come see how I transformed this chair into a beautiful perfection chair with gold details.

I have long been a lover of the color purple. It was one of our wedding colors… the color of our the bedroom in our first house… and I always thought it would be perfect in a little girl’s nursery. Well, it seems that nursery is not on the horizon at this point but I still love me some purple.

Needless to say I was totally thrilled when Country Chic Paint recently sent me a sample sized jar of their colour “Perfection”. It is a stunning version of ‘radiant orchid’, and I was curious to see what exactly I could transform with only a sample jar. Well, here she is folks….a Perfection Chair with Gold Wax and Gold Dipped Legs.

I started out with a chair an old chair that I had painted about a year ago. Unfortunately it had gotten a little damaged so it was time for a freshen up. It also had such a great shape that I thought it would look stunning in Perfection. I used only the sample jar for this entire chair project!!

It started out like this…

A white striped chair.

I had originally painted the legs with a dipped green effect but wanted to do dipped gold this time, so I taped off a line….

Taping the bottom of the legs of the chair.

And then went to town painting my Perfection.

Purple paint and a paint brush beside it.

I did three paint coats, letting it dry a few hours between each coat.

The chair painted a purple shade.

On the third coat of paint I only let the paint dry for about an hour and then used some sand paper to distress the edges of the chair…

Lastly, I taped off the legs again and gave the bottom portion of the legs a few coats of gold spray paint.

And finished it off with a good coat of gold wax. I brushed on a fairly thick coat, let it dry for several hours, and then buffed it off with a dry, clean, lint-free cloth.

All done!

I love distressing a piece of furniture like this that has such a great spindly shape to it.

I think it turned out stunningly and love the hit of purple and gold added to our springy entry hall. Did you notice it during our Spring Home Tour?

Oh, and I added a little perfect to that metal key on the wall too… always good to tie a color into your décor in a few places:)
