Good morning, friends!

I’m super excited about today’s post because… well, honestly, because I’m just still super excited about finally having a real fireplace mantel to decorate!

It’s been a long time a’comin’. And I can promise; it’s going to see all the seasons and holidays this year!

And starting off fresh from the Christmas-clean up is this simple rustic winter mantel with bottle brush trees… because even though they are kind of Christmas’ I think they suit January just as much.

If you’ve hopped over from Design, Dining, & Diapers then welcome!

Isn’t Taryn’s cozy, winter mantel beautiful?

If you are new here, then welcome!

My name is Krista and I’ve been writing this blog for the past {almost} four years! I love sharing decorating ideas, DIY and renovation projects, as well as free printables, crafts, and sewing projects. You can read more about me and this blog here; or take our full lakefront home tour here.

Only a few months after a big living room makeover; we made another change and added this beautiful fireplace and mantel to the space. The TV was {apparently} a non-negotiable item around here; so I had to work with it. But I think that creating the alcove for it has helped… I’d still like to hang the TV so that there is a little more room below it for my mantel decor. Because that’s the whole purpose for having a fireplace, right??

I made the little pompom and pinecone garland a few years back and it reappears in our decor every winter. I kept the rest of the mantel decor quite simple and I’m enjoying the calm feel of it after the colourful holiday season.

Nothing more cozy then a roaring fire {even if it is propane!} on a freezing winter night…

I love your fireplace and mantel, sadly we just had to tear our wall out due to dry wood termites. Yuck! But I am enjoying different fireplaces for inspiration on what we will do with ours now. i love the tiles around yours. I would be honored if you would stop by and share this at the Celebrate Your Story link party! Here is the link if you have a sec: http://celebrateanddecorate.com/celebrate-story-60/

    1. Thank you Lauren! Isn’t it funny that winter decor feels tricky when it’s actually the time of year that we spend the most time indoors?? The time when we want it to be coziest?

    1. Thank you Jennifer! We are loving having a real fireplace {finally} this year – and it’s so fun to decorate the mantel! I think the bottle brush trees will stay out until spring blooms!
