Thrift Store Vintage Painting Gallery Wall in the Dining Room

Come see my thrift store paintings that look vintage! They have created a beautiful gallery wall in the dining room.

Art.

Such a personal thing.

It ranges from inexpensive prints to extremely expensive art originals.

And let’s be honest. Most of us can’t afford the extremely expensive originals.

I’ve had so many readers ask me questions about where I got all my dining room artwork that I figured it was time to share my little “secret”.

The truth is, that they are all from either a thrift store or a garage sale!

If you are willing to look past the damaged, dated, or dark frames and just focus on the art work you can find some stunning pieces!

The dining room table and the wall with paintings on it behind the table.

The key is hunting down oil paintings that you love and that work with your decor scheme.

These paintings I found over a period of time and a good friend of mine gave me one of them as a birthday gift.

They started out looking like this:

One of the framed oil paintings lying on the floor.

And this…

A second painting on the floor.

And this painting, seen here in a previous post, had a darkish beige colour frame as well…

A mountain painting on the wall in a white frame.

With the original frames in a worn beige colour and a gold border, they definitely had a more old-school feel to them.

Some may love that look, but I really wanted the art inside to feel fresh and “pop” so I decided to give the frames a couple of coats of white paint (I used leftover trim colour from our house which is Cloud White by Benjamin Moore). I cleaned them well first and then used two coats of paint.

What a difference, right?

All the paintings on the wall in white frames in the dining room.

I think that with the white frames the art work really stands out now. I love the way all the colours in the art work so well together.

There is a fern palm plant in the corner of the room.

There are light blue glass vases with sprigs of flowers in them.

The dining room is one of my favourite spots in our home now – between the new DIY farmhouse table, the new DIY drapery panels, and the art work above the pew.

And everything was done on quite a thrifty budget.

I will have to share more details on the space soon – including our farmhouse table hints and tips tutorial!

Did you find a little inspiration? I suggest keeping your eyes peeled at thrift stores, garage sales, and estate sales. You just never know what kind of beautiful art pieces you an find…

This is awesome! Pin it to remember it!
