Good morning, friends!
I’m still working on putting together the design plan for my friends’ new-to-them farmhouse kitchen and so far I’ve shared some inspiring painted kitchen makeovers and four different styles of open shelving.
If you didn’t get a chance to read those posts already, then here is the kitchen that we are working with for this makeover…
Now that the kitchen ceiling and walls have been painting, we’ve been toying with the idea of painting the cabinets in a colour. There are three ways that we are considering going with this…
- Paint all the cabinets in a colour
- Paint only the lower cabinetry and island in a colour and keep the uppers and shelving white (or wood)
- Paint only the island in a colour and keep the main cabinetry all white
One option would be to paint either all the cabinetry, or even just all of the lower cabinets in a colour. We’re thinking a light grey-aqua-blue tone, but there are so many beautiful options to consider!
My heart always tends toward minty greens and blues, and this gorgeous farmhouse kitchen with minty green cabinetry Via Emily Henderson definitely knocks it outta the park. It looks so fresh with the white subway tile and that adorable white farmhouse sink.
I love the way that the full wall of marble tile contrasts with the gorgeous blue lower cabinets in this beautiful kitchen Via bhg. A great faucet and hanging light – plus check out the sneak peak of the stunning corbels to the right of the sink!
This kitchen Via Our Storied Home features chalk painted lower cabinets and open uppers painted white – a totally affordable way to update an existing kitchen! You can read her post to learn about how the chalk paint held up over two years of use.
This light and bright minty green kitchen Via is super fresh! The modern shaker style doors feel more traditional due to the extra chunky crown moulding used to finish off the cabinetry, but the whole space feels slightly modern due to the streamlined shelving and hardware.
I swoon over Nina Dobrev’s modern farmhouse kitchen Via Decoholic; the blue cabinets with all the copper toned hardware! And that gorgeous chalkboard wall!
Okay, I confess. This one is my absolute fave. What’s not to love about this beautiful bright farmhouse kitchen with pale mint kitchen cabinets Via bhg. Plus, the fridge?!? Those lights??!?!
But minty aquas, blues, and greens aren’t the only option we are considering.
Grey is always a beautiful option that gives a more neutral feel to a space. Check out these stunning kitchens featuring grey cabinets…
A long time favourite of mine is this amazing kitchen makeover Via Jenna Sue. In fact, you really should take the whole before/after house tour. It’s fabulous…
Another absolutely stunning kitchen makeover featuring dark grey lowers with white uppers is this beautiful french farmhouse style kitchen Via Maison de Pax. How stunning is that lighting? And the island!!
I love the vintage boho eclectic farmhouse feel of this gorgeous kitchen Via White Buffalo Styling Co. . Although the cabinets look grey, they are actually a dark hunter green-grey tone. So pretty!
This farmhouse kitchen with earthy grey lower cabinets Via Vintage Home Love is a pinterest favourite! I love the warmth of the shelving and blinds mixed with the dark grey/brown base cabinetry colour.
Well, what’s your favourite?
Would you paint your cabinets with a colour? Or stick with all white??
