20 Gorgeous, Functional, & Organized Mudrooms

Today I’m sharing 20 gorgeous, functional, and organized mudrooms full of practical shoe storage, mudroom locker style cabinets, and mudroom benches.

This time of year I’m always just about at my wit’s end when it comes to our “Mudroom”. And when I say the word “mudroom”, I’m using it very loosely.

It is, in fact, a hallway that unites our garage and the main hall of the house with an alcove for the laundry machines cut into one side of it. There is no room for a wall of mudroom cabinetry and we’ve made the best of the space by installing as many hooks as humanly possible. Our coat closet is tucked behind the door that exits to the hallway which means it is difficult to access and only used for rarely-worn coats.

This whole situation combines to create a bit of a hazardous space, with backpacks and layers of winter jackets puffing out into the mudroom-hallway making it, at times, difficult to pass through. And while dreaming of a colossal mudroom with acres of cabinetry may not actually do anything to improve this situation, ogling over gorgeous, functional, and organized mudrooms does provide me with some kind of odd satisfaction that I can’t quite explain.

So today I’m sharing some of my very favourites…

I love this beautiful, bright coastal style Mudroom is full of awesome storage with shoe storage below the bench and closed cabinetry up above  via Houzz.  Of course, it wouldn’t look this clean and empty very long around here.

I like how there is both a comfy looking bench and mudroom lockers in this wall of Mudroom cabinetry Via Decorpad.  Do you think it would be convenient to store your shoes in big drawers like these?

Another combination featuring shoe drawers is this huge, organized entry way with beadboard detailing  Via Houzz. It’s  hard to imagine this is a backdoor, it’s so pretty. What do you think?

So crisp and fresh, this stunning black and white Mudroom/laundry room combo via Style at Home features so much charm and character. The black windows and doors really make the whole space pop. I’m thinking I could use a little more storage then this though…

This mudroom via HGTV is super cute, bright, and looks very functional in a relatively small footprint. I would prefer a little more space under the bench for shoes and boots.

I like the rustic wood touches in this fun farmhouse feeling mudroom via Zillow.  The rolling drawers for shoes and boots are a great alternative to shelves, which are somehow a challenge for children to store their shoes on, am I right?!

This mudroom  via Houzz shows that you don’t have to incorporate a bench in your lockers, you can simply have a chair or bench nearby. A style like this leaves more space for storing items below and on the shelf surface.

How cute is this idea?! Incorporate a chalkboard strip on the wall to mark each person’s area or write little reminders via Decorpad…

I love the texture they’ve added in this mudroom by incorporating a rustic wood planked wall backdrop in this neutral rustic mudroom via Z+ Interiors

And maybe the best solution is tucking everything away? It certainly looks crisp and clean in this gorgeous mudroom full of wall storage cabinetry via Pinterest (let me know if you know the original source)…

I love the looooong mudroom bench and beautiful millwork backdrop via BHG…

This full wall of mudroom cabinetry includes some counter height drop zone areas that would be really handy when you are getting ready in the morning via Houzz

How pretty is this L-shaped mudroom bench Via Jamie Keskin on Instagram?  I love the unique hooks and the herringbone floor tile looks perfect with the beautiful bench cushion!

I like how they’ve got room for shoe storage below the bench in this L-shaped Mudroom via Courtney Zanelli through Decorpad

This simple mudroom full of locker cubbies with room for storage below is cute and beachy feeling, via Vintage Refined

A gorgeous DIY makeover, this boho chic mudroom incorporates fabulous built in storage and a beautiful and unique wooden bench via BrePurposed…

Often mudrooms are incorporated with laundry rooms, but I like how this long and narrow mudroom laundry combo via Magnolia Market has separate zones for each function.

How beautiful is this wall full of mudroom cabinetry via Studio McGee?  There is a ton of room for shoe and boot storage below, and a tiny bench to sit on when you are getting ready to head out the door…

It looks like they used kitchen cabinetry for storage in this gorgeous, big mudroom Via Houzz…

And when they took out a wall to create a larger kitchen, they turned the back wall into a mudroom over at  Four Generations One Roof

Here is our tiny hallway/laundry room/mudroom via The Happy Housie…One of these days I’d like to do something to make it more functional, but for now I think we’ve done the best that we can with what we have…

Do you have a huge mudroom or nothing at all? Maybe somewhere in between? Which style would you choose if you could design your perfect mudroom space?

  1. Thank you for this post!!! I’ve got a laundry room with no room for anything and an entryway system that just doesn’t look pretty. We’re considering converting one wall of our front room to do this mudroom wall…..I needed ALL that inspiration to help figure out my likes and dislikes.
