45 Ways to Add Character and Personality to a Boy’s Bedroom
After standing on the edge of the dock staring into the water for the last several months we are FINALLY jumping into finishing off our boys’ shared bedroom and I have been collecting a ton of fabulous ideas for ways to make a boy’s bedroom creative and unique. If you follow me on Pinterest you may have noticed all the pins lately that I have been adding to my board “Boy’s Bedrooms”…. Here are some of my favourites- and some great ways to add character and personality to your little man’s special space.

Monograms or Letters….

Great book display shelves….
A cool growth chart…
And fabulous lighting….
Or the Knockoff lamp I made last summer for this (long unfinished) room….
So many fabulous ideas… I am seriously going to have to narrow it down – it is only about a 10×13 bedroom so I can’t fit everything (plus, it will require two beds and two dressers… so there goes most of the space right there.). I really can’t wait to get it all finished now- I am going to remember my ‘word of the year’ and try to focus until it is all complete. Wish me luck – I think I’ll need it…
Thanks for reading. And remember my housie friends, HOME isn’t built in a day. Enjoy the journey!

This is a GREAT roundup…just starting to think about redoing the youngest son’s bedroom…pinning this for inspiration and ideas.
Hi Andrea! There are so many great ideas out there to consider- thanks so much for the pin and visit!
You have so much fabulous inspiration here, Krista!! Thanks for doing the leg work for us. 🙂 Can’t wait to see what you do!
xoxo
Rachel
Hi Rachel! I have been collecting ideas for a long time now- am glad to be finally making some decisions about what to focus on:) I can’t wait to share the ‘plan’! Thanks for your visit!!
Great round up of ideas! I can’t wait to see what you come up with. It is going to be soooo good
Thank you Sonnet- I can’t wait to share the plan tomorrow!
So many great ideas! Great post, Krista! Love your style.
Thanks Alexis! Now I just have to focus and put together a real plan for our boys’ room – can’t wait to get going on it all:)
So I don’t have boys, or even kids for that matter, but I love all the rooms you included!
Thanks Katie! There are so many great ideas out there for boys’ rooms- it is hard to narrow down exactly what I want to do… but I think I have my ‘plan’ together now!
Love all these suggestions Krista and glad I incorporated a lot of it when I re-did my tween son’s room! Great round-up!
Hi Vel! You did an amazing job on your tween son’s room. I can’t wait to get my boys’ shared room put together!!
Now I can’t wait for my little mister to be done with his nursery so I can do his big boy room! Thanks for this great list of ideas!
Ha Corey! It will be here before you know it – that is the sad part:) But at least we get to enjoy recreating a room for each stage (until they get their own strong opinions:).
What a great collection of boys’ rooms. We put an extra large map on my son’s bedroom wall and he loves it. We have pinned the places we have been and imagine where we will go next.
That is such a wonderful idea! I love the thought of using pins and just might have to do the same!! Thanks for sharing it:)
wow Krista, you put together a seriously cool selection of boys rooms there..pinned some for sure
Thanks Christine!! There are some amazing boy’s rooms out there- I can’t wait to get working on our boys’ shared room!
Oh my goodness. So many great ideas. I particularly liked the vintage wood flag art. That was awesome, but this post is chock full of great ideas!
Hi Katja! That flag art is really cool, isn’t it? I love the rustic funky look of it. I wish now I had been a little less literal with my flag pallet…. lots of ideas, now to narrow it down and focus in on what we are actually going to do in our boys’ room! Thanks so much for your visit:)
There’s so many ideas here that play into my coastal style – I think in our next home we are going to need a basement.. I can see a lot of these ideas fitting in just perfectly.
Lol- We have a basement in this house but I haven’t quite managed to ‘start’ much down there yet. It is fun to think of having a whole extra floor to use all your ideas on! Thanks for the visit Brandi- hope you have a fabulous weekend!
I love what you did in your boy’s bathroom (I have that madras plaid shower curtain pinned for when we do our boy bathroom). You have some awesome ideas pinned here. I know their bedroom is going to be great. Looking forward to following along.
Thanks Courtney! I am pretty excited to get this project all wrapped up – goodness knows I have been ‘planning’ it long enough! Have a great weekend:)
Oh I am so following this board! I’ve got two boys’ bedrooms and a shared bath I have to do something with. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Great Ashley! I hope you find some inspiration on the board. I recently wrote about our boy’s bathroom as well -which happens to also be the main guest bathroom in the house- an unfortunate fact and I am sure you can imagine why:) Did you see that – it has a similar feel to what their bedroom will have. Here it is…. Thanks for your visit and comments!!
What a great collection Krista!! I’m going nautical with my Sons room too, his favourite thing in the world to do is fishing so that’s where I’m going. Thanks for the inspiration and looking forward to seeing what you do!!
Oh that will be so interesting- I would love to see a fishing related spin on the nautical theme – looking forward to what you do as well Heather!
Great ideas! It’s so hard for me to give my little man’s room real personality (besides the messes he makes). I especially love the Union Jack dressers!
I agree – aren’t the Union Jack dressers adorable? I really want to incorporate something Union Jack in their room – but not quite sure what yet! My boys have a playroom with the majority of their toys so it is easier to keep their bedroom clean- they just have books and some lego and their clothes in their room. Not as much to tidy up!! (it is like a whirlwind around here- some days I bet I bend over 100000 times to pick stuff up but at least it is exercise, right?!?).
