Beachy Blue & Green Summer Living Room Tour

Today I’m joining up with some super talented blogging friends to share our beachy blue & green summer living room tour as part of the Simply Summer Home Tour hosted by my talented friend Nina from Nina Hendrick Design Co.

All week long some of my favourite bloggers are sharing a part of their summer homes; you can check out the links to those posts at the bottom of this tour.

If you are new here and have hopped over from one of the other talented bloggers on this tour, then welcome! My name is Krista and I live with my husband and two elementary school aged boys on a lovely lake just outside of a small town in the middle of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. I also work as an elementary school teacher, but I love to spend my free time decorating, organizing, crafting, and DIYing. I’ve been sharing these kinds of projects and more on this blog for the past five-ish years. You can read more about me and the blog here.

I’ve been sharing quite a few summery spaces in our home over the past couple of weeks; our front porch, summery kitchen, our freshly renovated deck (aka our outdoor living room), and now, today, our summer living room!

Come on in…

If you’ve been following along for a while, can you spot the BIG new change in this space?!?!

What do you think about this NEW rug?? I am absolutely swooning over it. We ordered it from Wayfair.ca – it’s called the Ford Light Blue Area Rug (by Bungalow Rose) and it’s super affordable! (If you are in the US, you can find it here at Wayfair.com). I absolutely love the fresh, bright feel and, if you’ve ever seen our kitchen tour or master bedroom makeover, then you know I’m a bit of a nut about this overdyed vintage feeling rugs. SO. PRETTY.

I went for a beachy feel for our living room decor this summer, with a hint of tropical. Lots of blues and greens popping against a mostly white and neutral background; along with natural textures and wood tones.

I shared these tropical leaf free printables the other day in a few colour choices; and I’m also sharing the details on how I made this DIY felt ball garland today.

Doesn’t the new rug from Wayfair.ca give such a bright feel to the whole room?!?

I found the big striped pillows on clearance at Target on a recent visit to the US, and the patterned pillows are from Tonic Living. I originally shared them during our master bedroom makeover; but made a few summery changes in there as well and moved them out the living room. In fact, all the pillows are from previous seasons or rooms and I just shopped the house to mix things up a little for this year.

The mirror and the painting were both HomeSense finds…

Viburnum branches in bloom are a simple touch; I love the greenish white of the blossoms…

I still like to keep our cozy throws nearby the cuddling with in the evenings, especially since we’ve had such cool spell of weather lately.

I’ll be back soon to share a summer dining room tour; as well as our summery master bedroom…

Until then, I’ve got some super talented friends sharing a summery room in their home this week!

Head over for some more inspiration…

  1. Honestly, this isn’t completely my style. Although, I do like the beachy look and I do like a few elements in the design. I do like the blue with a white background idea. I also LOVE the chairs, throw pillows and bamboo curtains and strangely enough I actually like that rug. I don’t know what it is about that rug that I like but it somehow goes well with those chairs and gives character to the room without overpowering. The one thing I definitely have to say about the design is that it does have a very relaxing and welcoming feel to it. Athough I love the contemporary look a lot of times mostly white rooms give either a cold and uninviting feel to it or the “don’t bring your kids to my house feel”. lol.

  2. Your living room is gorgeous, Krista! I love the combination of blue and green for summer. Your new rug is gorgeous and the pillow combination is perfection! Thank you so much for joining me on this tour!

  3. Your room is so light and summery. The blue, green, and white color scheme makes everything so fresh. It definitely feels beachy and the rug is smashing. Beautiful job!

  4. What a lovely fresh room. I must copy the throws in the basket idea and the tree trunk side table which would be so nice on the patio by my favourite chair.

  5. Oh my, Krista, you have outdone yourself. Your living room is glorious and the photography is enviable. The rug you just added is pure magic. You’ve made my day/week in sharing this room that is full of pure joy. Cheers, Ardith
