Easy DIY Black and White Dropcloth Table Runner {& 8 Fab Black & White Projects}
Have you done any projects with a dropcloth yet?
I mean, aside from covering your floor with it when you paint your walls.
It is really effective for that, by the way.
Much better then the old sheets I usually cheap out and use.
But that’s an aside.
Dropcloth is great for so many things… like making DIY Envelope Pillows….
Or this cute black and (sort of) white striped dropcloth table runner that I am sharing today…
For this project you will need:
-
a dropcloth (or similar fabric)
- scissors
- painters tape (I used Frog brand)
- spray paint in your colour of choice – I used Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Flat Black
I started out with a plain ol’ dropcloth that I picked up at my local hardware store. I think I paid about $15 for a 4 foot by 12 foot piece. That translates to around $4 a yard, give or take.
I cut one long strip 18″ wide and 84″ long (because my table is 72″ long and I wanted an overhang on each end). I let the edges fray naturally because I don’t plan to wash this, but you could definitely sew the edges or use some no-sew hemming tape to secure them first.
I used Frog Tape to tape out my lines, spacing them evenly by using a spacer piece that I moved as I taped my way down the length of the runner.
Then I sprayed away with my flat black spray paint {this is the one I used…}
Then let it dry about an hour… Done!!
The perfect addition to our Halloween table, though I think it will transition nicely into regular ol’ Fall come November.
Want to give it a go?
Pin it to remember it!
Today I am joining up with my Monthly Crafty Blog Hop group to share more fabulous Black and White ideas!
