Boho Chic Master Bedroom Refresh

You know what I love about decorating?

I love how changing one key element in a room can give the whole space a completely different feel.

With fall well underway around here, I’ve been really feeling the itch to cozy things up.

The grey is already starting to hit – we’ve had a few beautiful breaks of sunshine; but overall the rain and clouds have rolled in for the long fall-winter-spring-90%-grey-season. The amount of grey days we have around here just might explain my obsession with adding colour and pattern to our home decor.

And what is a better way to cozy up for the season then by adding a little global inspired boho chic bedding to warm up our bedroom?!

Colour is a huge part of cozying up the feel of a space for me – and our new Madero Duvet Cover set from Blissliving Home has added a ton of beautiful colour and pattern to our bedroom.

Since switching over our bed to this fully reversible  set, I can’t wait to hop in to bed at night… cuddle down in the soft warm quilt, and inhale my latest favourite read well into the wee hours of the night.

This super fun duvet cover set from Blissliving Home is part of the Mexico City Collection. I absolutely love all the colour and the intricate mix of patterns in the design. Doesn’t it give our bedroom a completely different feel?

I love the story behind Blissliving Home – all of the designs are based on the travel inspiration of the brands founder Mei Xu.  In fact, Mei Xu has this really amazing travel journal blog as part of the brands website and I got lost just reading through all the amazing stories – such as her experiences in creating the Mexico City collection.

What a dream job, right? To get to travel and experience and then design beautiful things out of the inspiration you find…

The white quilted coverlet and shams are also from Blissliving Home – they are part of the Luisa series. I love how the crisp white design balances out all the pattern and colour in the Madero duvet set. Doesn’t it make for a great contrast?!

And of course the little Blissliving Home Luminoso bolster pillow pulls the whole thing together. I love the detail in the design… with all the beautiful embroidery and beading; this is definitely an gorgeous accent piece that I could never DIY.

The pinks and oranges mixed throughout tie in perfectly with our coral and gold distressed chalk painted nightstands…

I think the colour and pattern is perfectly balanced by all the hits of white in our room – such as our DIY Blackout Drapes, the heavily distressed chalk painted dresser, and the white quatrefoil rug.

Doesn’t the white quilted coverlet also add such a great balance to the intricate pattern in the bedding?! Who would have thought that it could look so amazing with such a heavily patterned headboard design?! I love it together!

The pinks and blues in the Mexico City collection bedding pick up perfectly on the colours of our bedroom gallery wall… those poppy paintings have to be my all time favourite art work and the first canvas prints that I ever bought. I love how the gold accent pieces help glam up the whole scheme just that little bit; while keeping it fresh and cottagey at the same time. I made the ombre LOVE sign a couple of years ago now…

I also added a little wax warmer pot from Chesapeake Bay Candle to our dresser. The scent I am currently melting is called Milk & Honey and you couldn’t get a much cozier or more wholesome scent then that. I love the design of the crackle glazed wax warmer as well – it blends right into your decor seamlessly.

Can you believe I picked up this orchid at Costco last weekend for only $12.99!?! Seriously? Deal of the century, I know. And, yes, it was already in that turquoise pot. Unreal!

Aside from the gorgeous colours and patterns in the Blissliving Home Mexico City collection, I was super impressed with the quality of the set. You can tell, from the moment you button your quilt in on the ribbon lined button strip, that the duvet set is beautifully made and of awesome quality materials. I know it will wear well with time and washing, and that is so important to me because when I love a piece I want to be able to enjoy it and have it look fresh and new for many seasons to come.

I’ve also added a couple of beautiful little scented candles to our bedside tables for the cool season; they add such a nice glow to our space in the evening. And sometimes when I am busy tidying things up in our house during the day I love to light them just to give the room a warm and fresh feel. These ones are Lotus & White Tea from Alassis.
