Coral & Turquoise Fall Mantel Decor
It definitely feels like fall around here already.
I brought out our thick down duvet last night.
I’ve been wearing hoodies and slippers around the house.
And I even had to turn the heat on!
I’m definitely feeling ready to get back to school and back into our regular routine next week. And I’ve been busy spending the last few rainy, cool days inside trying to get organized (KonMari style- more on that to come soon!) as well as switching over our décor to “fall”.
If you follow me on Instagram you might have even seen the new pillows that I was sewing yesterday morning (plaid?! dark coral and purple?!? what?!?).
Of course, part of switching over to fall involves putting together a fall mantel (or faux mantel)…- and just because it’s fall doesn’t mean I’m giving up using all shades of aqua and turquoise!
As the seasons change I always love to do a little shopping trip to see what is new and fun in the stores. My favourites to frequent are Home Sense and Urban Barn… and used to be Target before they abandoned me and left their Canadian market behind. But I won’t focus on that heartbreak right now.
The other day I took my semi-annual seasonal shopping trip and found the perfect new piece at Home Sense to add to our fall décor this year. Can you spot it?
It’s this little turquoise/coral/orange faux mercury glass gourd that you see near my DIY Twig Letter – the colour is amazing and completely draws together the whole scheme I am going for this fall: lots of turquoise/aqua/blue with hits of dark coral and gold and of course some natural rustic elements thrown in for balance.
My Z Studio print is the other perfect piece to draw together this colour scheme. Isn’t it a beauty?
And of course, my little friend Mr. Squirrel. I haven’t come up with a better name than that though my boys have suggested names like “acorn” and “Bob”. I got him at Home Sense last year and just love him. Nutty, I know.
I made the little garland using some simple wooden cut outs from Michaels that I stained and then glued to a piece of twine. Quick and easy.
Overall, I love the combo of turquoise and coral, as well as the rustic/glam mix. What do you think?
Find a little Fall Inspiration??
And can you believe that it is already that time again? Time for the monthly DIY Challenge?
My cohosts Abby, April, Christy, and Mandy have created some awesome fall projects themselves in honour of this month’s theme:

I love the mantle and everything on and around it, but especially love Mr.Squirrel and that gorgeous faux mercury glass gourd. It is amazing!
Love the turquoise touch. Your mantle is so pretty, Krista! Oh and I spy that pretty vase from Target, too:-) Too bad that you don’t have Target anymore… Have a graet week!
Thanks so much Aniko! I am still heart broken about Target too:(
What a beautiful mantle! I love the touch of turquoise and the letter A is fantastic!
Thank you Sara!! I love my A’s around here…

Thanks Ellen – I can never let go of my turquoise and I love how well it pairs with the more fallish tones of coral and orange!
Looks so beautiful, Krista! I love the colors!! Bright and cheery and still so fall! Have a wonderful weekend, friend!
~Abby =)
Thanks Abby- you know I can never let go of aqua. I thought of just sticking with my aqua and green again for fall but I can’t help loving the cozy feel that a little bit of coral or orange brings in!
I can’t wait until Fall is in the air for sure. It feels like we are in a heat wave here! Your mantel is perfect for Fall! I love that you were still able to incorporate your love of color and I am totally down with Acorn or Bob, great suggestions. 🙂
Hahaha, I never know if anyone actually reads that stuff… I just can’t let my little guy get too attached to mr. squirrel aka bob aka acorn or he might try to take him to bed for cuddling at night:) lol.
love it, krista- i especially love the little garland you made!
Thanks Cassie! I made that little guy last fall – it’s always nice when you can get a second season out of something:)
