Cozy Farmhouse Scandi Style Christmas Living Room Tour
Our Cozy, Neutral Christmas Living Room with a mix of Farmhouse and Scandi Style Decor Elements.
I can’t believe that it’s nearly December and that Christmas Home Tour week is already upon us! We’ve had a very dark, rainy Autumn this year with some serious storms this past month that have wreaked havoc around our province. Thousands of people are out of their homes due to flooding and storm damage. Highways have been closed and people have been stranded for days waiting to get through and back home. We’ve even had issues with our supply chain to areas of our province, as the storms took out major transportation routes.
During this time, decorating for the holidays may seem trivial and superficial. But it’s also in when the world feels upside down, that creating a safe, cozy haven for our families can be that much more important and welcome. The cozy ambiance created by a warm fire and twinkling Christmas lights is impossible to surpass. Making sure that we feel safe and cozy in our homes also means that we will be in a better mental space to think of and give back to those who are less fortunate in their current situations.
Today I’m sharing our hygge haven from the world. It’s our favourite place to relax in the evenings: our Cozy Scandi Farmhouse Style Christmas Living Room.
This week is the Seasonal Simplicity Series Christmas Home Tour Week!
There are over 25 bloggers sharing their homes ready for the holidays. I know you will find some ideas and inspiration that you love. Be sure to check out the bottom of this posts for the links to each of the tours happening all week long!
So… I call our decor Scandi Farmhouse for a reason; Scandi style is known to be fairly minimalist, and my decor is really never anything resembling minimalist. It just isn’t, and I’m good with that… I love being surrounded by cozy textures and all the things, especially at Christmas time. But there are several elements of Scandi style that I’ve integrated in our Christmas living room this year; namely lots of wood, neutral tones, and a wintery woodland feel overall.
To get this look, follow a few simple steps: mix old and new pieces, keep colours fairly neutral, use lots of wood and natural textures in various tones, pile on the cozy textiles (think fur and knits), and layer in lots of natural greenery and garlands.
Those vintage skis are my favourite to bring out each holiday season! They are over a hundred years old and originate from Quebec. I was lucky to find them on Facebook Marketplace a few years back, and glad I drove way out of my way to pick them up. I love how their rich wood tone works so beautifully with our new rattan sofa (see this post for details).
The coffee table is another vintage find; I picked it up recently on Facebook marketplace and stripped it down using the same process I shared here. I still have some work to do on it (sanding, waxing) but it works for now!
I shared all the details on our mantel decor in this post last week.
It’s snowy, rustic, natural, and cozy.
I always have readers asking me about that bookcase! I wish I could give you an awesome online source for it, but it was a Homesense find – so a one-off. If I ever manage to find a similar shelf online, I will definitely link it! The chairs are a set we ordered from Wayfair shortly after moving in.
I kept the shelf decor light and airy with a mix of white village houses, rustic trees, bottle brush trees, and my free printable Farm Fresh Christmas Tree sign.
I shared all the details on our Christmas tree in this post; it’s got some beautiful Scandi style ornaments on it, as well as my favourite tree “garland”. You won’t believe what it is actually made with! (Pop over to my post to find out:)
I also get a lot of reader questions about our rattan sofa. It’s the Cleo Rattan Sofa from Eternity Modern and I shared a full review of it in this post.
And, it’s always natural greenery for the win!
My husband cut this from the woods near our house. I’m going to be stuffing my front porch pots full of cedar later this week.
I hope you enjoyed our Scandi Farmhouse Style Christmas Living Room Tour – tomorrow I’ll be back to share our kitchen and dining room, which both have a bit more colour than our living room does. Be sure to pop back over!
Want to remember this? PIN it for later!
Next up on today’s tour is my friend Laura, over at Inspiration for Moms.

Everything looks so festive and pretty Krista – especially your mantel! And I think the skis might be my favorite touch, too! 😉
As always thanks for putting this together and for including me. I’m so sorry to hear of the storms and the hardships they’ve brought. Hoping it is all better soon and that you have a wonderful Christmas with your family!
