Cozy Plaid Fall & Thanksgiving Tablescape {with Printable Place Cards}

Today I’m sharing how I created a simple and beautiful cozy fall & Thanksgiving tablescape using items I had on hand in our home, as well as some free printable place cards you can use on your own Thanksgiving table.

Wow!

Thanksgiving.

The truth is that it has already come and gone here in Canada!

It felt really early this year, though the weather cooperated and made it feel very cold and wintery for us. We also had the chance to host much of our large extended family for the fun occasion. I took the opportunity to play around with my Thanksgiving and Fall tablescape ideas, and then put together this holiday table setting to share with you all today – including some free printable place cards that you are welcome to use on your own Thanksgiving (or seasonal) table.

They’re in blues and greens, of course, so you could even use them throughout the year at any occasion.

This week, I’ve teamed up with a group of other bloggers, hosted by Designthusiasm, to share Thanksgiving entertaining ideas and tips.

If you’re stopping in from Jennifer’s amazing blog at Dimples & Tangles, then welcome! You can read more about me and this blog here. And be sure to check out all the gorgeous ideas for fall table and Thanksgiving entertaining tips shared at the bottom of this post.

As I mentioned, I kept with the blue and green scheme that I shared in our fall house tour here, and stuck with items that I already had on hand in our home. I began by adding two blue plaid throws (from Ikea), to use as a substitute table runner. You don’t need to go out and buy a special table runner for each season; look to your fabric and throws for something you can use.

There is a white small pumpkin on the table on a plaid tablecloth.

For the functional part of the table, I used our round rattan placemats (we have 16 of these and use them for every occasion), and then topped them with my mint coloured Mexican pottery. I only have a set of eight of these, so for bigger gatherings I alternate them with our blue dish set. Lastly I topped each plate with a mini white pumpkin, hydrangea leaf, and the place setting cards. More Mexican glassware in the form of the blue wine glasses, and we are ready to serve dinner!

One small pumpkin is on the plate with a name tag.

For the centre of the table, I bunched the throws up to create some interest and texture, and then layered in some candle sticks, leaves (a mix of real and faux), some hydrangea blooms from the garden, small white pumpkins, and some dried corn. I also used these DIY glazed clay pots (from my friend Jamie’s book), planted up with some winter kale, as a simple and long-lasting centrepiece feature.

  1. I always love seeing your decor because of how you stick with your signature colors and bring them to life in beautiful, seasonal ways! And this table is no exception! I love all of the blues and the mix of purple/pinks in the cabbage and flowers. Thank you for sharing at Merry Monday; I’ll be including your table setting in my Party Features this week.
