Craft Room Makeover REVEAL!!

It’s here. My Craft Room Makeover Reveal.

If you have been following along the past few weeks then you know that I have been taking part in the One Room Challenge through Linda’s blog Calling it Home. The idea is for bloggers to try to makeover one room in their home in six weeks. Well, in five weeks actually because the first week is to share your “before” and the last, or sixth, week is to share your “after”

Did you get a chance to see my horrendously messy and disorganized and non-functional BEFORE?

Five weeks! To make over that space?!?!

And I actually made it. It is really done. I can hardly believe it myself.

I had my doubts.

Serious doubts.

When I started the challenge I thought “ya, no problem… six whole weeks”. And I started off strong. I got going right away with my Gift Wrapping Station, and then the storage dresser makeover.

But then come week 4 and I started to panic. I only managed to paint the room, and I realized what a big list I had ahead of me. Once the walls were dry, I got to hang up my ‘oh happy day’ faux metal lettering, and then finished up and hung my Emily yellow drapery.

I was still worried… there were a lot of little touches to finish.

But… I did it! Really!

Enough talk, want to check out the finished space?!? Today is all about the pictures… right at the end I will share my sources and links to the related DIY posts for this makeover.

Without further ado… here is the craft room makeover reveal:

    1. Hello Amanda, I picked them up at Dollarama. They usually have them in the late winter/early spring and into summer – in the seasonal/outdoor/garden section of the dollar store. I hope that helps!

  1. Hi Krista! Just found your blog and I LOVE this!! Quick question… can you share how you covered the plastic boxes at the end of your table? It looks like they have some type of fabric on them and chalkboard label. Also, would you mind sharing where you found the labels too? Thank you so much!!

  2. I absolutely LOVE your makeover! So many great ideas that I would like to implement in my studio makeover. A couple of questions: Where did you get the top for your big work table? and How big is the top of the work table.

Keep the ideas coming! You are such an inspiration!

    1. Hi Donna!
Thanks so much for your sweet comment. We lucked into the top- my father-in-law had it sitting at his house and wasn’t using it. It used to be the top to an old drafting tape that he had. It measures just over 3′ by 5′ (1/4 each longer on each side – so 36.25″ by 60.25″). You could build something similar with a sheet of plywood cut to size and then attach some edging along it to make it look thicker and tidier. Good luck with your project!

      1. Hi!! here is my problem… i have my bedroom/craft room and its purple, and i acually don’t like it… i can’t sick nothing to the wall beacuse its like a texture that is wobboly (do you know what i mean?) and i do scrapbooking and i need to orginize my teable… thanks!! <3

      2. Hi Sara! Are you able to paint the walls? And can you hang things using nails (for art and decorations)? And do you need scrapbooking organizing supplies (bins and totes etc.)?

  3. Where did you find those metal double pails with the wooden handles- you have them in aqua and yellow? They are so great for storage. Your room is wonderful- you did such an amazing job!! Great inspiration!!

    1. Thanks! I actually got it in the home decor section of Winners. It kind of set the colour scheme for the room – I also felt it suited the craft room because of the sewing measuring tape that runs along the bottom!

  4. I do agree it is a beautiful craft room. I would like to have exactly like it, but am I going to work in it or just contemplate it. To be honest. I would title it, ” before working and after working in that craft room”. You exaggerated by throwing clothes on the floor.

    1. Hi Bertha! Haha, I know it looks like I exaggerated it, but truly, that was how it looked at that moment when I took photos. It had pretty much become a dumping ground for things! It was pretty sad… but now that I have gotten it so much more pretty and organized I try to keep it tidier. Though it doesn’t always happen – there are definitely days or weeks where it can become a bit of a dumping ground again! That’s what I like about it though – I can close the door on the mess in there and it doesn’t creep out into the rest of our house:)

  5. Absolutely fabulous. I love it all 🙂
Please let me know if I could possibly feature this room on my blog. It’s too good not to share. Lol.

  6. Your craft room looks wonderful. Just wondering – those storage containers on the side of your work table – are those plastic shoe boxes and how did you make the little blackboard signs?

  7. Ohmygosh, just came across your blog and am in love! So bright and colourful and pretty! Come make-over my house!

      1. This is a dream! I love it, where did you get the big orange button, it’s so cute!!!

      2. Hi Christie! I got the button at a local Fabricland store and then painted it orange. Thanks so much for your visit!!

  8. Wow! You did and incredible job and packed so much storage in your space. You have given me inspiration to tackle my office/craft room now!

  9. Boy do I wish I had a great room like that! Maybe I could give up my laundry room and send everything out….haha. Love the colors and I think you might be the organizing queen!

  10. This is fantastic! I love the functionality, the white tables, the colorful organization. I am going to be stealing some of these ideas for my own craft area…thanks!

  11. What a bright, fun space. Would you believe I bought the same fabric to use on my windows in my studio about a year ago and haven’t made them yet? I especially love that light blue wall shelf. Sweet! Great work.

  12. OMGosh! I’m so crazy jealous right now!!!! I need space like that…and that table!!! It’s what dreams are made of!!!

  13. “Radiate Possibility”, that you certainly did Krista! I can’t believe how much furniture you squeezed into that room and it doesn’t look cramped in the least. The colors, textures, and patterns throughout the room are so bright, cheery and definitely inspiring. A girl could spend a lot of time in that space, especially with everything being so organized and at your finger tips. Thumbs up to you! Green with envy over here.

  14. OHEMGEE!! I love your craft room!! Love how happy it is, I love everything about it, you did a great job.

  15. I love it! What an amazing job!! I would have been so completely overwhelmed and most likely would have given up but I can see that your end result was totally worth it!! Gorgeous!

  16. Oh Krista! This, my friend, is every crafter’s dream!!! LOVE the colour you added and that table in the middle is AHHHHHMAZING! I’m super jealous of the storage you created, well, if I’m being honest, I’m jealous of the entire crafting space! LOVE it all!!!

  17. Wow, Krista! You did an amazing job transforming this space! Love all the storage…. Such a dream craft room! Love all the happy colors! Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend, friend!

  18. I am so truly impressed with this space. It’s so fresh, and your organizational skills are out of this world!!!!! Seriously… All of the useful ways you stored things and still made them all look good is truly something to be proud of.

  19. What a great space for creativity! I love all of the color, and your drapes are perfection! I could definitely get my craft on in a space like that. Great work! I participated in the ORC for the first time this year, and can totally relate to the “I have six weeks to do this” mentality. It totally sneaked up on me, and was cutting it close in the end. But, it’s done!!

  20. What a fun and creative space! I’ve always wanted a craft room! I have one corner of my new office for crafts, but looks nothing like this! I love your storage solutions and work space! Bravo on a job well done!
