Distressed White & Gold Mason Jars {for Your Holiday Table}

I will show you how to add some sparkle to your holiday decor with my easy distressed white and gold mason jars!

I am obsessing over gold these days.

Who doesn’t love {and need!} a little shine and glam inside when it gets dark outside at 4:30 pm??

And with Christmas on the way it is the perfect time to start adding more sparkly gold to our projects and décor.

There are so many simple ways to add some sparkle and shine with metallics; be it gold, silver, copper, or mercury glass.

And with the busy holiday season ahead, who doesn’t love a DIY project that you can get double use out of?

Like these easy DIY distressed White and Gold Mason Jars for your holiday table or mantel… they would be a gorgeous addition for both Thanksgiving and Christmas!

A distressed mason jar filled with evergreen branches.

To make this project I started out with a mason jar, some gold spray paint, and some white chalky paint (I used some of my Country Chic Simplicity that I had leftover from this project). I also used my Country Chic gold wax.

I began by spray painting the mason jar with the gold and letting it dry completely…

Once it was dry, I painted it with my Country Chic Simplicity chalky paint and let it dry for about 30 minutes.

Brushing the white paint onto the mason jar.

Then I went back in with a slightly damp rag and used that to wet distress the raised edges of the jar…as well as to do some general paint distressing around the jar revealing some of the gold.

Once it had been distressed…

The final touch was to add a little gold wax over the whole mason jar, and then buff it off. I like to leave some extra wax on because it is such a beautiful color – though it does remain a little bit sticky for a while.

Done! So simple, farmhouse rustic, yet with a little hint of glam sparkle. Perfect for a holiday table or mantel display.

    1. Hello! I spray painted the outside of the jars – but that’s because I wanted it to look like paint chipped off paint with my distressing – not with glass in between the colours of paint (gold to white). You could do it the other way as well, but the gold might look a little less vibrant behind the glass. Or, it might now:) Good luck with your project!
