DIY Beachy Decor Driftwood Tree
Come see how I made this adorable driftwood tree with foraged driftwood from the beach!
We love to collect things around here.
Especially my little guys.
Maybe they inherited a little bit of a hoarder gene somewhere?
Whenever we visit a beach, the boys insist on carrying home a pocket full of pretty rocks or driftwood.
And if they don’t have any pockets, guess who is carrying all their collections?
Eventually some of the foraged collections disappear. Or go back where they came from.
But every now and then we hold onto some. Like the driftwood.
I always knew that all that driftwood would come in handy one day. Like on this DIY Beachy Decor Driftwood Tree.
This was a really quick and thrifty DIY project, and I love the relaxed beachy feel it has added to our summer decor.
To make this I used a foam cone form from Make it Fun crafts, my hot glue gun, and various pieces of driftwood that we have collected on family trips and outings over the past couple of years {I may or may not have two small tubs full of driftwood hoarded in my craft room}.
I spread the driftwood out and sorted it loosely according to size, shape, and thickness to help me when I was choosing pieces to layer onto the tree form.
And then I just went for it.
I tried to get a good base of driftwood all over the form first, gluing pieces on… then hunting and searching for pieces that would work and fit well together.
I layered and overlapped pieces as I went to make sure that all the foam was covered and not showing {or showing as little as possible}.
Done!
Maybe you spotted this yesterday when I shared the first part of our Lake House Summer House Tour?
I love how it looks on the display table in our dining room – isn’t it a fab accent to this beachy vignette?
I’ve seen trees like this retailing at home decor stores for much more then it cost me to make it – really, it’s only the cost of the form and the glue. The driftwood is free {once you collect it – kids love helping with that part!}. Of course, make sure you only collect driftwood from beaches where you are allowed to remove it.
If you missed it, you can see the rest of our Summer Home Tour {part one} here.
Think you might want to try this?!
Just pin it so you don’t forget it!

Nicely done! Love the driftwood accents with all the blues. So pretty.
Very attractive! This is the perfect piece for a summer mantel or vignette. Plus — it probably evokes memories of family beach vacations where you collected the driftwood. Great idea!
This is such a cool idea! I love the whole vignette on your table. Thank you for sharing at Merry Monday!
