Today I am super exciting to be partnering up with Porch.com and Hickory Hardware to share some #outofthebox ways to use cabinet hardware. If you aren’t familiar with Porch, it is a home network website where you can find accredited professionals, browse over 130 million projects, and check out the advice section on all things Home and DIY.

When Taylor, from Porch, first presented this challenge to me the first idea that I had pop into my head was the one I went with. I have wanted to create a funky and beautiful jewelry organizer for a long time now, and this challenge was the perfect impetus to get me going on this project…

Right now my jewelry is stored all over the place and there is no real system for it. I plan to hang this new organizer in my closet so I can have it all close at hand; easily visible for those busy mornings and easily accessible for putting it away in the evening.

I love how it turned out and today I am going to share how you can easily create your own DIY cabinet hardware jewelry organizer.

To create this I used:

– my leftover repositionable Gold Arrows wallpaper from Spoonflower (you may remember it from here)
– three types of cabinet hardware from Hickory Hardware: Cottage Satin Rose Gold Cabinet Knobs, Williamsburg Satin Rose Gold Cup Cabinet Pulls, and Metropolis Satin Rose Gold Cabinet Pulls
– a piece of MDF plywood (3/8″ thickness) cut to a 22×22 size
– two packages of #8 3/4 inch metal hardware bolts (because the MDF is thinner then a standard cabinet door thickness so the hardware needed to be shorter)
– a drill and a screwdriver

I started out by covering the MDF board with the repositionable wallpaper, smoothing out all the bubbles, and folding it over on all the edges, cutting the excess wallpaper at the corners and folding it in (mitred) like you do when wrapping a present:

Then I played around until I came up with a hardware placement that I was happy with…

I then measured and carefully marked where to drill for the hardware…

And then drilled holes and attached the knobs, handles, and cup pulls using the smaller sized metal bolts that I had purchased…

Done! I love how it turned out. What do you think?!?

I can’t wait to hang this up in my bedroom! I plan to use a couple of triangle hangers on the back to hang it with.
