DIY Dropcloth Sharpie Pillow for Halloween
I’m a cheap pillow fan.
When you love to switch them out as often as I do, they can’t be too expensive.
Or take to long to make.
And this little pillow is both thrifty and simple: perfect for the “Halloween” season…an Easy DIY Dropcloth Sharpie Pillow for Halloween.
To make this you will need:
- a piece of drop cloth to sew a pillow cover (alternatively you could use a premade plain cotton cover or could sew one out of other cotton you have on hand).
- scissors and a sewing machine
- a sharpie marker
- an inspiration picture
I started out with this basic drop cloth that I picked up at my local hardware store….
I followed my Super Easy Crazy Fast One Piece Envelope Pillow Tutorial to turn a section of the drop cloth into a pillow cover. If you haven’t sewn a basic envelope pillow before… I promise you that it is SO EASY! If you can sew a semi-straight line then you can do it! Hop over here for a full and easy tutorial:
Once you have your pillow cover ready…. get our your Sharpies and your inspiration picture . find google images such a great source of pictures…. or Pinterest. If you want to do something unique you may wish to practice sketching it first on paper, or even using chalk to apply the design to your cushion before you do it permanently with your Sharpie.
I just went ahead and drew mine right on there without practicing… but I’m pretty wild like that.
Sketch away… and you are done!
I love how it adds to our Halloween Living Room!
Do you remember being a kid, and practicing your handwriting again and again until it was perfect?
I finally have let go of that.
As an adult I enjoy the look of the ‘handmade’ – and sketching things out for yourself gives you a beautiful unique look.
So, what do you think?
Do you like the look for the handmade and unique, too?
If so, you might also like my black and white hand-sketched sharpie pumpkins…
