DIY Ombre {love} Pallet Sign On Our Valentines Day Mantel

I have put together this cute Valentine’s love pallet sign in a bright ombre!

Hello everyone! I am so thrilled to be here today sharing a fresh, bright and cheery Valentine’s Mantel with you that happens to feature one of my all-time favourite sign projects: a DIY Ombre Love Pallet Sign that I snatched out of our bedroom to use on our Valentine’s Day Mantel.

I made this pallet sign several months ago and I bet that many of you have not seen it yet… I really wanted to share it again because it is honestly one of my favourite wooden sign projects. I literally found the chunk of pallet on the side of the road…you can tell it has been through a lot given the chunk missing out of one corner of it. My husband turned the board into a little sign and I tried out the technique of leaving the wood to show through for the lettering. I love the ombre style of it and the white graduating into yellow feels so warm and cheery.

I generally keep my DIY Valentine’s décor fairly low-key but this year I was ready to add some cheerful color back onto the mantel. I’m thinking it could be something to do with the number of cloudy and foggy gray days we have had around here lately.

Primulas are my favourite flower this time of year because they seem to offer such hope that Spring is just around the corner. They set the stage for the rest of the design… yellow and pink with a touch of blue and red.

The bunting is made from doilies that I painted with pretty watercolors and then simply glued together along a piece of twine.

The saying on the chalkboard is one that I say to my boys’ every night… “I love you more then all the sand on the seashore”…. Every night we try to come up with new ways to express how much we love each other. My six year old usually comes up with something like “I love you more then all the cars in the parking lot…”.

You may have seen the tutorial for the ‘rustic glam’ heart string art the other day…

The string heart is on the wall above the love sign.

The branches remind me that it is still winter but they have been turned into a Valentine’s Tree with the addition of some little heart decorations I crafted up from some felt stickers I picked up at the dollar store. So fast and easy!

I am loving this mantel décor – which is perfect because I am sharing this as part of the Get Your DIY On Challenge: Décor We Love. Here is what my cohosts have been up to….

This Sunday we want to see you back here to link up some décor projects you love- and as you can see they do not need to be Valentine’s themed! They can be any sort of décor project that you absolutely LOVE.

Thanks for reading. And remember my housie friends, HOME isn’t built in a day. Enjoy the journey.

    1. Hi Dani! It was super easy and quick… and I love having a little more color in our living room again (it was feeling all calm and neutral for a while but that really isn’t me:).

    1. Thanks Alexis! They are actually a great kid’s craft too – we made some in my K-class as well to hang around our room. Have a great weekend!

    1. I totally agree Jo-Anna. When everything is grey outside (we get a lot of fog in winter being near the coast), the color inside certainly lifts the spirits a little!

    1. I totally agree- yellow is great in the winter. I didn’t realize how much I was missing a little colorful energy until I added the yellow back into our living room!

    1. HI Corey! I do love color:) Can’t help it! Thanks for your kind comments about the blog redesign- I still have a few things to tweak but overall I love the changes:)

    1. Thank you Abby!! I guess the site looks a little familiar to you:) Your redesign was partly what got me seriously inspired to redo mine (and the fact that I couldn’t stand looking at my quatrefoil background and red ribbon for one more day… ugh).

    1. Thanks Mary! I love that about it too – I love summer but I think that spring is my absolute favourite season with all the plants coming back to life:)

  1. You seriously create the prettiest mantelscapes, Krista!! The sign pairs so well with your rustic heart string art too. The whole display makes me think of strawberry lemonade 🙂 Very bright and cheery!

    1. Thank you Amy! It is like strawberry lemonade – I did a strawberry lemonade feeling porch last summer but I hadn’t made the connection til now!

    1. Thanks Mandy!! I thought it was better to use something personal on there that makes me smile rather then a general love quote:) Thanks for your visit friend!

    1. Thanks Anne! We have lived in a fog bank for the better part of the month so I am excited for spring. Though we had some beautiful sunshine yesterday afternoon and it was glorious. I always appreciate those clear cold sunny winter afternoons (because they are pretty few and far between on the coast:)

    1. Thanks Carrie! I LOVED my last mantel – with a blue and white scheme (very neutral for me:) and was hesitant to take it down but now that all this cheerful color is up I love it just as much! Thanks for coming by!!
