Early Spring Home Tour {& $400 Giveaway!}

I hope you enjoy all the details of my early spring home tour!

Good morning!

It is spring home tour day!

Home tours are always my favourite – mainly because I usually link up with an awesome group of bloggers who are also sharing their tours and I look forward to stalking their spaces.

And Spring!

That’s another favourite of mine.

Though, I must say we’ve had a little more spring rain then I would like and not quite enough spring sunshine. I can’t wait to see that sun come back out again so flowers will start blooming.

Right now the forsythia that are in bloom are being pummelled so badly by the rain that they are pretty droopy and sad looking.

But all the grey and rain outside is even more reason to make our indoors full of light, bright and cheery spring decor, right? So many cheery and bright spring decorating ideas in this light, bright, and cheery spring home tour at the happy housie Come on in! On our front door I added a bright hit of spring colour with my easy five minute DIY Spring Forsythia Wreath… A yellow wreath on the front door of the house. A vase of tulips on a small table in between two chairs in the entryway. A small jar of tulips on a white table. A Life Is Better At The Lake pillow on a small wooden chair in the hallway.

Let’s head into the living room… I shared some changes to our living room a couple of months ago when I brought in more beautiful navy accents. We also put up the hanging light fixture and it has been such a godsend during these dark winter months. But the time changed just last night, so we are excited to see daylight still at 7pm now! Yay! The winter is finally on it’s way out…

A view of the living room. A light blue throw is on the armchair in the living room. A small wooden table is beside a brown armchair with flowers in a white vase. Up close picture of the pink flowers in a white vase on the small table. The pinky path flowers in a white vase on the table. Can you believe that those flowers aren’t real?!? Normally I might try to disguise that fact, but I’m so impressed with these ones that I have to fess up. I absolutely love them – I picked them up at Michaels. I used to choke over the price of faux blooms, but a good quality bloom makes a huge difference. And just think about how many weeks they will last for compared to real blossoms. Pink and white tulips are on the coffee table in the living room.

There is a paddle on the wall above the couch. I think my favourite spring touch, though, are these new throw pillows I made with this P Kaufman fabric from Tonic Living.  As soon as I saw this fabric on their website, back in January, I ordered it immediately, knowing it was absolutely perfect for bringing in fresh bright spring colour. I even tackled zipper pillows for these instead of my usual envelope style pillows. I will share the tutorial soon. A paddle and a propeller are on the wall in the living room.

There are floral pillows on the white couch.
Up close picture of the floral pillow. My yarn wrapped Easter eggs are a great little center piece for now, though I will have to find something to replace them in a few weeks since Easter is so early. Until then, I’m enjoying the bright hit of colour and texture they bring to the living room. Decorated Easter eggs are in a basket on the table.   There is a blue and white pouf on the floor in front of the white armchair.

A pink and green pillow is on the armchair in the living room.

A spring inspired pillow is on the armchair in the living room. You’re seeing the living room in a bit of a transition-state right now. I recently moved some furniture around in the living/dining room and the new X bookcases that I ordered from Wayfair are currently in the living room. I can’t lie – I’m not thrilled with it at this point and it will be changing again soon. I’m thinking that we will switch around our media cabinet to a smaller one that we have in the basement and then the scale of the pieces will work a little better. I’m also deciding about whether or not stain the bookcases in the same weathered grey as the dining table, or to paint them out white. I think I will have to wait and see how they look with the new media cabinet. There is a sisal rug on the floor in the living room.

A sign saying Lakeshore Cottages is above the TV console.

There is a wold map globe on the console table.

A white pouf is in front of the armchair in the living room.

A tree stump is beside an armchair.

The dining room is my favourite room these days, or at least one of my favourites. We still love the DIY farmhouse table that we {i.e. my Dad} built with these amazing table legs from Osborne Wood Products. The tutorial and tips for that will be up on the blog soon. A wooden table is in the dining room. I also really like the way that the room feels so much more open now that I have replaced the big faux mantel hutch that we had in here with this lower sofa table. This piece used to live in the entry hall, but moved into the dining room when I recently tweaked the entry hall and added the faux map wallpaper. I’ve freshened it up with some chalk paint and may share some more details on that soon. A small console table in the dining room is filled with spring items.

A blue glass vase is filled with soft pink flowers. I’ll be back tomorrow to share more about this little Spring Vignette – along with the free printable Watercolour cherry blossom art that I made. The “hello spring” watercolour is available as a free printable here  – in 10 different colour choices!! My new super easy and fast No-Sew or Barely-Sew DIY Drapery Panels might be what is making the dining room my favourite these days… There are more vases on the dining room table filled with soft pink flowers.

A white candle is on the table beside the vase.

Pink flowers and candles are on the dining room table.

A small wooden bench filled with floral pillows in the dining room. Some more faux cherry blossom stems from Michaels were all I really needed to add a springy feel to the dining table. There is a a large light fixture above the dining room table.

A blue and white pillow is on the fabric dining room chair.

A light blue vase is on the dining room table.

Wooden table and chairs in the dining room.

There is a light rug under the table in the dining room.

A large stem filled with pink flowers is in the blue vase.

From the dining room we look right into our kitchen. In fact, we often eat our meals at the island since it fits our family perfectly (I have one extra stool in the command closet that I pull over to sit at the end of the island). We renovated our kitchen last year and you can read about all the details in this post. A blue and White Island is in the kitchen.

A light blue range hood is in the kitchen.

There is a small scale and wooden cutting boards in the kitchen.

Stainless steel appliances are in the kitchen.

There is a small rug in front of the sink in the kitchen. To add a little springy feel to the kitchen I simply popped in some more beautiful faux blossoms from Michaels, as well as these easy DIY Speckled Easter Eggs that I shared the other day. I was so thrilled with how well they turned out – and they were so easy to make! A jar filled with pink flowers is on a small cake stand. A small blue dish is filled with decorated Easter eggs.   Easter eggs decorated.

I am loving all the spring inside our home – now I’m ready to see a little more of the spring sunshine and a little less of the spring rain outside.

Well, I hope you found some light, bright and cheery spring decorating inspiration!
