Fall Dining Room & Kitchen Tour
I’m excited to share with you my dining room and kitchen all decorated for fall!
I’m really excited this week to be joining up with a group of my favourite Canadian bloggers to share part of our fall home tours! Thanks to Christina from The DIY Mommy and Shannon from AKA Design for hosting. Check out the bottom of this post for the links to all the amazing tours happening this week!
As I was picking my son up from soccer practice this evening I realized that it truly is fall now. I looked around at the trees and mountains and noticed how many of the leaves are starting to change colours. I felt the crisp evening air growing colder with each minute as the sun set in the west. And, as much as I love the hope and promise and new life that spring and summer bring, I reflected that I wasn’t sad to move into fall. In fact, I felt ready for the shorter days and cooler temperatures. For the first time, I thought about boiling the kettle and settling in for a quiet evening cuddled under a cozy blanket watching the fire crackle and heat up the house.
Fall Home Decor
It was the same when it came to fall decorating. I first started adding some simple fall touches in late August as school approached; but as I readied to photograph our fall tour last week I realized that it was missing something. It was missing that warmth that only comes with splashing fall leaves and pumpkins all around. And I was ready for it. Ready to embrace all that “fall”. So in they came…
If you are new here and have hopped over from one of the other talented bloggers on this tour, then welcome! My name is Krista and I live with my husband and two elementary school aged boys on a lovely lake just outside of a small town in the middle of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. I also work as an elementary school teacher, but I love to spend my free time decorating, organizing, crafting, and DIYing. I’ve been sharing these kinds of projects and more on this blog for the past five-ish years. You can read more about me and the blog here.
These gorgeous mop head hydrangeas are from my garden – I’m so glad I planted that shrub a couple of years back. I had no idea that the flowers would be as pretty as they are -and as long-lasting! It blooms for weeks; even months! We’ve got several Japanese Maples in the yard and their tiny lobes always make for a pretty fall display, as well.
The wooden pew is still one of my absolute favourite pieces; it was gifted to us by some dear friends and I doubt they have any idea how much I love it or how appreciative I am to have it in our home! I have a bit of an obsession with looking at realty for sale online, and the pew is always the piece that I try to “place” first when looking at potential new homes (not that we are actually planning on moving anytime soon… but you never know!).
The navy pumpkin pillow is by the sweet and talented Lucy from Craftberry Bush; I ordered it through Society 6.
If you’ve ever taken one of our home tours before, you may notice that we’ve had a little bit of musical furniture happening around here. With the purchase of the new living room chairs, the bookcases moved over to this wall in the dining room. But I think that by mixing seasonal touches with some dining room related pieces, they work. What do you think?
The majority of my open shelf decor was collected over time. The Impala head, driftwood wreath, wheat sheaths, and ceramic pumpkins all hail from HomeSense. The beautiful green pottery was purchased second-hand from a friend, and the apple buckets and greenery are both Ikea finds. The grocery sign and heirloom blue pumpkins are from Michaels, and the sweater wrapped pumpkins were a DIY of dollar store finds.
This is the view I see most often of our dining room… since I seem to spend most of my time in the kitchen…
Speaking of the kitchen, let’s head there.
I kept “fall” decor in the kitchen pretty simple and focused mainly on adding some autumn touches to the etagere display shelf…
From our entry hall you look straight into the beautiful kitchen from this view. {You can take our fall entry hall tour here}.
I switched the tea station over from lemonade and iced teas to our winter tea selection, cozy mugs, and teapot. It’s definitely time to get that kettle boiling again in the evenings. I love my cup of tea at night!
We gave our kitchen a complete renovation a couple of years back. You can read all the details and see the before and after of that here. It was definitely worth while and is still one of my favourite spots in the house.
Did you see something you love?
I’ve gathered some of the items I used to decorate our home below, as well as some similar finds so you can…

I love how the fall decor gives your dining room and kitchen area this shabby chic beach look. I love that dining room table and rug and the kitchen is pretty and welcoming.
it’s look beautiful with blue
Beautiful! Where is your dining room table from?
Your fall home is absolutely stunning. I love the pops of non-traditional fall colors throughout. Just makes your rooms feel brighter and more fun. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous fall style with us at Merry Monday this week.
Your fall tour is gorgeous, Krista! I love every detail in your kitchen and dining room. Well everywhere 😉 You always do such an amazing job.
Hugs, Jamie
I love the way you’ve mixed your coastal style with so many great fall touches 🙂 And your dining room table/chairs are so beautiful!
Best,
Kelly
Everytime I “visit” I am always blown away by your home. The blues make me so happy, and how you’ve brought nature into your home is just magical. Love it!
Sooooo pretty as always, Krista! I sure love your mix of blues – the navys with the turquoises – and that vintage pew! Also… the hydrangeas are gorgeous!
Gah! Those natural fall leaves are so lovely! They really make the whole tour for me!
Thank you Courtenay! It’s really all you need, right? Natural leaves or flowers make such a difference!
The bookcases are great where they are – they look so pretty with the green pottery! Your display shelf in the kitchen is also wonderfully styled. And your dining room looks stunning as always! Lovely home.
Thank you so much Joann! That pottery was a second hand find that I am sure glad I grabbed when I saw it!!
Krista, your home is so pretty. I love all your beautiful teal touches. It’s so cozy and inviting. Wish I could pop over for a cup of tea.
Hello Dannyelle! Thank you so much for popping by and for your super kind comment! Your fall decor blew my mind – so good!
I am always so impressed with how perfectly you incorporate all that beautiful colour season after season! Your home looks beautiful as always, and now I wish I was there enjoying some tea, pumpkin pie, that view and your company!
Aw, thank you Colleen! I wish you were here enjoying some (David’s) tea and pumpkin pie, as well. It would be great to catch up soon! Hope you are feeling well!!
I too am ready for fall…I love the cozy feel of it all, and cooler temps…fall is my season. I love your home all the time…I always look forward to seeing how you decorate for each season, and you never disappoint! I love the aqua with all the fall touches. Just gorgeous! Happy Fall my friend!
Thank you Jo-Anna! I always love checking out your seasonal displays and the beautiful pops of colour in your home decor, as well!! Happy fall, friend!
Very pretty, Krista! Love the colors on those shelves with the groceries sign! Happy fall!
Thank you Kendra! That sign was one of those finds that I knew I couldn’t leave behind, even though I didn’t have a spot for it yet!
I love all of your blues as always and that view speaks to me. If you have any other friends that want to gift a pew, I’d be happy to take it off their hands. I love yours! Happy fall my friend – hope to see you soon!
Jenn xo
Jenn! I know, right? I wish I had a shorter pew for the entry hall… but I guess a girl shouldn’t be greedy! Happy fall to you as well; would love to connect in person again!
Oh my stars! I feel all a flutter, your home is amazing and that pew is such an amazing piece with a wonderful heartwarming story attached. Everything makes me feel welcome, like this is the place to come home to, cozy gorgeous views and beautiful pops of colour what a dream home! And your photography is just beautiful! xo
Laurie! Thank you so much for your sweet authentic comment! It totally made my day!
You’ve created the perfect balance of bright, cheery and cozy! I bet you never grow tired of that view. I know I wouldn’t! Wish we could grow mop head hydrangeas here, but they don’t seem to do very well. Wheat, well that’s something that’s plentiful. Gorgeous tour, as always 🙂
Hi Shauna! We don’t really have any natural wheat – far too wet, I think! But water loving hydrangeas, no problem. As long as we keep them watered during our hot summer months:) Thanks for popping by, friend!
I’m in love with your home and would probably wouldn’t mind doing dishes with that view.
Aw, thank you Lucy! The view is my favourite part of the house:)
