Fall Entry Hall Refresh

Today I’m sharing our entry hall or foyer and long hallway decorated for fall as part of the Canadian Bloggers Home Tour series as well and recently refreshed with Benjamin Moore Titanium.

Spring isn’t the only season that can be full of refreshing changes in your home. Fall is a perfect time to breathe a little new life into your spaces. I mean, you’re about to spend more time indoors then in any other season, so why not make sure it’s a place you love to spend your time? And creating a warm and welcoming entry way or foyer is the perfect place to start your fall decor touches.

How to refresh and decorate your entry for fall graphic.

First off, adorn your front door with a new DIY fall wreath…

Fall pumpkin, berry and leaf wreath hanging on the front door.

I shared the DIY of this wreath just the other day.

Head here to learn how to create a high-end feel wreath on a lower-end budget!

The front door with the fall wreath opened slightly to reveal the inside of the house.

You don’t have to go over-the-top decorating for any season. I kept things pretty simple and just added a few fall decor accessories that I already owned.

The mirror is a great evergreen piece, and one of my favourite finds ever. I found this statement piece at HomeSense, of course, which is also where I picked up both the pumpkins and the wheat. The vintage books and vintage crate are both thrifted pieces, and the hallway cabinet is from Wayfair.

The DIY map wall is still one of my favourite projects, so even though I decided this fall was the time to refresh the rest of the walls (see below), I kept the maps!

The layered rug was another recent find from HomeSense, and the Grateful sign was on half-off at Michaels. It’s amazing how adding this sign and the garland (also Michaels, on sale, last season) suddenly gave this space a completely different feel. It was like summer to fall in one fell swoop.

Remember it last spring?  Very soft pretty colours.  Quite a change, right?!

Do you have a project that you’ve been thinking about tackling for weeks? Or months? Or maybe even a few years? A room or spot in your home where, every time you look at it or enter the space, you having a nagging sensation that things need to change?

Then fall is the perfect time to get your house ready for enjoying all winter long…

Our hallway was that space for me.

It’s obviously a space that we use multiple, multiple times per day… and I think that I thought about giving it a little paint refresh every. day. for. months. AND! Finally…I did it.

Of course… the first colour I picked didn’t work out quite right. I didn’t follow my usual method of buying testers before investing in the entire quart. {SO. I guess the garage will be getting a new colour next.}  But, paint mistakes aside, I think our second shot went much better and I LOVE the fresh, light, airy, and calm feel of this new grey-green-beige-blue tone by Benjamin Moore called Titanium.

Here is another look at the BEFORE (the previous colour was Colorado Gray, also by Ben):

The hallway painted grey with black hooks for jackets.

AND… now, with Benjamin Moore Titanium:

The hallway now painted white with a sign saying Grateful and a small chair underneath it.

Pretty amazing, what a light and airy colour can do, right?  It completely brightened up the space!

Leaves, and pumpkins on the chair rail with a small bag hanging from it.

Okay!

I know you love BEFORE and AFTERS as much as I do.

So here’s just one more…

A long undecorated narrow hallway.

The same hallway painted white with pictures up.

I’m loving the lighter feel of this well-used thoroughfare. Although it took a tad bit of getting used to, I’m really thrilled about the change.

Here is a little spot I’ve almost never show to y’all before. The very end of our long hallway. To the left in this picture is the door to our bedroom (which faces the lake), and to the right in this picture is our older son’s bedroom (which has a window out to the forest on the side of our yard).

A sign on the wall saying fresh cut flowers and then a vase full of flowers underneath it.

Oh… that sign, you ask? Isn’t it cute? I picked it up at a beautiful papery and vintage-style goods shop along the way on our road-trip this summer in a sweet little BC town called Nelson. I LOVE it (and the town!). I almost didn’t buy it… in fact, it was my 10 year old who knew that I really loved it and encourage me to go back to the store and get it. What a good little man he is, right? It’s like it was made to fit this space in our hallway.

Didn’t the paint make a huge difference?!

  1. I was excited to see your beautiful results with your hallway! I have just settled on Titanium for my home and I’m wondering what paint color you used for the wainscoting. The two paint colors look lovely together. Thank you!

    1. Hi Ellen,
Our trim work was all painted Cloud White – my new favourite white is Simply White (both Benjamin Moore colours).
