Friday’s Faves

Hello friends!

I took a bit of a break in March from sharing my Friday’s Faves posts. There was so much going on with spring hops and home tours and report card conferences and travel, that the month really went by in a whirlwind!

We had a VERY busy two weeks off for spring break, but it was wonderful because it really felt like a LONG time away with doing so many different things. We had the chance to take a vacation to Mexico for a week with some good family friends.

Next we spent a couple of days with my sister and brother in-law in the Greater Vancouver area and took the kids and their cousins to watch a Vancouver Whitecaps game (it’s all about soccer around here!). My other sister and brother-in-law were away celebrating a special BIG birthday in San Francisco and Sonoma, so we took their kids down to Great Wolf Lodge in WA for a couple of days.

After which we spent 2 nights and 1.5 days at home ploughing my way through six loads of laundry before heading down to Victoria for my oldest son’s soccer tournament.

Easter Sunday was lovely and relaxing spent with my family, except that a pretty big project arrived back in our laps…

Do you remember a few years ago that we gave purchased a small home as an investment property to rent out? I shared the before and after DIY makeover that we did on it here. Well, after three years of renting we decided that it’s a bit too much for our busy lives and that the time is right to try to sell. But, as you can imagine, after three years of being rented it needed a little love and attention again. So… we spent 9 hours over there on Easter Monday scrubbing and painting and scrubbing some more… then I went there everyday after work this week to continue scrubbing and painting. There is still some more cleanup on the outside, but it’s looking much fresher and ready for the market. It really is a sweet little character house, so I hope someone finds it to be their perfect starter or small family home.

Now that we have gotten that house mainly cleaned up and ready to sell, I’m turning my attention to finally tackling our youngest son’s (Finn’s) new bedroom! I shared all the details about the musical rooms we played around here after New Year’s, and what exactly we plan to do to get his new bedroom cute and functional once again. You can read all about it (and see the ghastly “before” pictures) here.

Speaking of before and afters, if you love a good one, then you won’t want to miss this post!

As I finish off this post, I can hear the whirr of the neighbours lawnmower; a sound that always makes me smile inside. It means that spring is definitely here, friends! If it hasn’t arrived to you yet, have faith that before you know it, you’ll be hearing that lawnmower too. And if you want to completely turn your lawn around this year – I’ve got some awesome tips for you here and here!
