Friday’s Faves

Good morning, friends! I feel like I could start every Friday with “we’ve had a busy week”. Maybe it’s not really busy. Maybe it’s just normal? But I suppose this week did have a couple of extra things happening that made it even more busy than our  extra school-work-soccer schedules.

Yesterday was my youngest’s seventh birthday! Eek! They are growing up so fast, it’s crazy.

He is such a busy, distracted, smart, active, curious, funny, and entertaining little guy. He definitely keeps us on our toes around here and our life wouldn’t be so full without him. So we celebrated with a big family dinner last night, and we’re having a friend birthday party tonight. He’s pretty thrilled about the whole thing!

In other news, my husband continues to work at healing his torn achilles. Which really just means that he has to rest and can’t do anything. We got him out to the soccer field on the weekend and again during the evenings this week to watch games and practices. Getting out is so important when you are nearly housebound. He hobbles over on his crutches and I set him up in a camping chair with a big bucket to rest his cast on. It’s still not ideal, obviously, but at least he gets to watch the boys play and help coach a little. (If you missed me talking about this a couple of weeks ago, he tore his achilles tendon coaching my oldest son’s soccer practice about 10 days ago and is in a cast).

I worked hard last weekend on getting our dock and yard cleaned up (including mowing the lawns myself!) so things are feeling pretty organized outside. We still have to get the garage reorganized and tackle the shed… we’ll see what the weather is like this weekend. And I have been looking around and feeling like the house could use a once-over on the organization front; at least in certain areas. I think I’ll be working on some 10-week organizing challenge follow-up posts for you in the near future. If you didn’t do the organizing challenge last spring, you can always be added to the email list so you get the weekly emails about it! Let me know by responding to this email and I can add you to the list.

This week I didn’t have to look very far to find stunning fall inspiration! I took part in two home tours this week; the Seasonal Simplicity tour {where I shared our fall living room} as well as a Canadian Bloggers Fall Home Tour {where I shared our fall dining room and kitchen}.

I was blown away by all of the stunning inspiration shared in these tours! I encourage you to go back and take a tour through the homes (the links for the other bloggers tours are at the bottom of each post), but I have a couple of faves I’ll share here, as well.

My cohost, April, shared her lovely fall home at House by Hoff. She is the one who originally inspired me to get an etagere shelf for our kitchen!

And my friend Abby from  Just a Girl and Her Blog knocked it outta the park with her beautiful light, bright, and airy fall home…

And I think you’ll love the curated cottage style that Emily shared at The Wicker House

The two hosts of our Canadian tour shared some gorgeous inspiration!!

I love this stunning rustic elegant farmhouse fall dining room via AKA Design

And the gorgeous, fun, boho chic farmhouse style of Christina’s fall tour at  The DIY Mommy

Lucy also shared a gorgeous light, bright, airy tour over at Craftberry Bush

After my fall tours this week, I  had several reader questions and emails about some of the pieces in our home. I found a similar shelf to the etagere shelf in our kitchen on sale here…

As well as a similar  tiered tray to the one I use in our kitchen…

I also spotted our tufted chairs on sale this week!

And this oversized driftwood round wall mirror  really caught my eye – it is quite similar to the mirror we have on our living room gallery wall. In fact, I like this one better…

I hope you have a great weekend, friends!

I can’t wait to share next week’s posts with you! We finally got our lower patio finished and cleaned up and I’m really excited about the results. It looks awesome; and the RustOLeum product that we used worked better than I had hoped for! I also took some pictures of our fire pit area and have a funny bear-in-the-woods story to share with you all. It’s somewhat less funny since “the woods” are directly beside our house… more on that to come!

Want to remember this?

  1. so so pretty…i’ve looked everywhere for a coffee table like yours…it is so striking and i love the color…i’ll keep looking. 🙂

    1. Hello! The coffee table is a second hand find that I painted. Look on sites like Craigslist or Kijiji or any other local sales sites that you have. It was an oak finish and quite 80’s looking but the lines are so pretty! I still love it:)
