Light, Bright, & Airy Living Room Tour {Designing Vibes}

Here is a collection of light, bright and airy living rooms that you will love!

Hello everyone!

I’m so excited that it is Spring Break in our neck o’the woods and I am taking a little bit of extra time with my family over the next couple of weeks. I will still be popping in and out and sharing bits of our holiday time over on Instagram, but I am super thrilled to have some REALLY talented bloggers coming by to share their favourite space with you!

You know how much I love house stalking, and I suspect that you do too. So I hope you will love these gorgeous living room tours that I have lined up.

First up – today I have the beautiful Erica from Designing Vibes over to share her favourite space in her home… take it away, Erica!

Hello readers of The Happy Housie! I am Erica from Designing Vibes and I am so honored to be guest posting for Krista today.

With my love for turquoise and all things “light and airy”, I have been a fan of Krista’s blog for quite some time. So, I was super flattered when she asked me to share my beautiful living room with you all today.

A wooden coffee table with a metal tray on top and a book and magnigying glass on it.

Just a little back ground for those of you who don’t know me, I purchased my first fixer upper home in February 2015 and have been working to make it my little refuge ever since.

So that you can fully appreciate the transformation of my living room, I wanted to give you a “before and after” shot. Here is what the space looked like when I first moved in a year ago…..

A dark room in the before picture and the after picture is a very light and bright room.

The room was dark, outdated and infested with lady bugs. Crazy enough, I still envisioned the most potential in this space. I loved the vaulted ceilings and window seat and knew, deep down, I could bring life into the space with some fresh paint and decor. In fact, it was a major selling point for me and a major reason I went with this particular home as my first fixer upper project.

We transformed the room by first scraping the popcorn ceilings and painting the trim and beams in an ultra-white. We painted the walls in a light-gray paint and replaced the ceiling fans with lantern chandeliers.

A living room with a fireplace that is red bricked and the after picture of the whitewashed living room painted white.

To lighten the space a step further, I white-washed the brick fireplace, and to add some warmth and character, my husband built a wood-beam mantel. You can read about those projects here.

A neutral couch with a wooden coffee table and pale green and light sage pillows on the couch.

I love how the kitchen and living room are connected…..making this space ideal for entertaining and also keeping an eye on my crazy two-year old son while I am cooking in the kitchen (did I mention…I hate to cook?).

A light and white living room.

While my preferred aesthetic is light and airy with coastal undertones, I also love to juxtapose it all with a bit of glam and some rustic warmth. The silk drapes and textiles add a little bit of luxe , while the wood tones and cow skin rug provide a hint of warmth and coziness.

Grey transitional living room with a large TV above the fireplace.

The space has fantastic natural light, which you might not have guessed by the “before” photos. …never underestimate the power of paint!!!

And because Spring is now upon us, I recently added some fresh florals to the space.

There is a spring like patterned pillow on the couch and yellow flowers in a vase behind it.

There is a clear glass vase with roses in them on the coffee table.

The living room is truly the heart of our home, and I am so glad I got to share it with you guys!
