Main Bathroom Makeover Reveal

I am very excited to share my main bathroom makeover in a boho chic style!

Yup.

It’s here!

Today is makeover reveal day. Our main bathroom makeover reveal.

If you have been following for a while, then you know that I am currently taking part in the One Room Challenge through Linda’s blog Calling it Home. The idea of this fun challenge is to completely make-over one room in your home within a six week timeline.

When we started out, the main bathroom had been renovated three years ago when we first moved into this house. It was cute and worked well as a little boys’ bathroom (which it is); but it is also our main and guest bathroom so I wanted to give it a fresh feel that fit more with the updated design scheme in the rest of the house.

Since the “bones” were basically going to remain the same, the changes were just decorative. We changed out the shower head; shopped for some new accessories and a shower curtain; painted the walls; added a DIY rustic shelf; and put all the pieces back together.

And here is how the bathroom looks now…

The main bathroom with a rhino head in silver on the wall, a small wooden shelf and a bright shower curtain.

I’m calling this bathroom boho chic because of the bright medallion shower curtain and the eclectic mix of homey accessories. This rhinoceros head is one of my favourite new pieces; I think it is such a fun and quirky addition to the space.

A large silver rhino head is on the wall.

A small wooden shelf is above the toilet with towels on it.

A navy blue lamp is on the shelf beside q tips in a jar.

There are washcloths in a white container on the wooden shelf above the toilet.

A glass jar of q tips.

If you were following along through the whole decor process, then you might remember I had a couple of options for the shower curtain. I ended up going with this stunning bright coral medallion one- I just loved the bold pattern and colour so much. I took back the more brightly coloured towels and accessories and went with quite a few white accents to balance out the busy bright pattern of the shower curtain.

There is a striped blue and white small stool in the main bathroom reveal.

My little DIY Arrow Painted Stool still has a home in this bathroom – I love the way it has become more naturally distressed over time.

Vintage jars filled with soap is beside the sink.

Vintage glass jars that I picked up at a garage sale have been filled with soaps, cotton balls, and q-tips.

The little stool is in front of the sink in the bathroom.

This faux pulldown vintage looking map of New York is another little DIY that I just finished for this reveal – I will be back soon to share how I made it.

There is a small map of New York City on the wall in the bathroom.

There is a medallion pattern on the shower curtain in the bathroom.

Well?!?

It’s done!

I am thrilled with how it turned out- and I think it fits much better with the look I’m going for in the rest of the house.

  1. So cute! Where did you get your shower curtain from? I’m sorry if someone already asked this, I can’t seem to see the comments section on my computer.

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Kristen – I bought it as a store called Home Outfitters, but the brand is Jessica Simpson. Hopefully that helps you track it down!

Question- Where did you find the rhino?

    1. Hi Linda,
The shower curtain is from a store called Home Outfitters. It is Jessica Simpson brand- so that may help if you search for it elsewhere. It’s definitely one of my favourite parts of the room:)

  4. I really love the bathroom! What stands out to me is the way the mirror is framed out. I am preparing to frame out my mirror. Is this a DIY project you completed in the past? I would love to see the tutorial!

    1. Hi Whitney – I bought the shower curtain at a store called Home Outfitters. It is Jessica Simpson brand so you might be able to find other sources for it online!

  8. Oh Krista it looks soooo awesome! I love how talented you are at bringing a space together! The rhino is so fun and I love the rustic shelf and the map!! Great job!!

  9. Love the paint color Krista especially with that awesome shower curtain. The soft whites compliment both beautifully!
Like you, our bathroom also serves as the main and guest bathroom. We’re planning on giving it a refresh over the winter and currently in the design stages. I’m also swooning over your floor tiles and wondering where you got them?

    1. Hi Marie! Thanks for your sweet words:) The floor tiles run throughout a lot of our main floor- they are the same in the entry hall, kitchen, long hallway, and laundry room. We were super fortunate that they had already been recently installed when we bought this house so I am not sure where they are from. But I have seen a similar style at The Home Depot. They measure 12 x 24″. Good luck with your refresh!! I’m glad I got this one finished before the holidays:)

    1. Hi Betty! Oh, that’s funny. Good point. Let’s hope my boys don’t think of that:) lol! I love my old binoculars – I have a few pairs. And somehow I try to integrate them into all kinds of random design vignettes.

  10. I LOVE the new look! It definitely flows so much better now with the rest of your house. And I am really digging the hardware on your vanity – even though I know you had it before. I feel like it shines now!

  11. oooh la la! I love the mix of materials in this room! The pulls, the shelf, the dark paint contrast next to the white, next to the vibrant shower curtain…come on! It is just beautiful!

    1. I always try to “shop the house” for those finishing touches! Sometimes hoarding those garage sale finds pays off:)

  12. Oh my gosh! I absolutely adore the navy and those cabinet handles are perfection!!! You’re use of colour is always so inspirational Krista! A STUNNING makeover my friend! xo
