Mornings around here are a little hairy.

Some days, they are more then a little hairy, and we can count ourselves lucky if we have eaten breakfast before it is time to leave the house. Since we have a fifteen minute drive into town for school and work, there are many mornings when we end up eating the most important meal of the day on the run.

I try to make sure that my boys have a balanced start to the day but it isn’t always easy. These delicious Mango Banana Breakfast Smoothies are not only easy and delicious, but whip together quickly and are completely portable. The perfect hairy-morning-solution!

Recipe for two smoothies:

– two packages of Carnation Breakfast Essentials in Classic French Vanilla (I bought mine at Walmart)
– two cups of whole milk
– 1 cup of frozen mango chunks
– 1 frozen bananasA blender beside milk, a banana, frozen mango and Carnation breakfast essentials.

The smoothies blend together super quickly. First I add my milk, then the two packages of Carnation Breakfast Essentials, the banana, and the mango. I simply blend it on low-medium speed for about 30 seconds and then on medium-high speed for another 30 seconds to a minute.

Pouring the ingredients into the blender.

Done! This healthy recipe filled two glasses with a little bit to spare.

Plus, I am so thrilled to know that they are starting their day with solid nutrition. Carnation Breakfast Essentials boasts 21 vitamins and minerals, 13 grams of protein, and as much calcium as a 6 ounce cup of yogurt!
