Modern Boho Farmhouse Style Simple Summer Home Tour
Today I’m sharing our modern boho farmhouse style simple summer home tour with lots of greenery and full of white, blue and green to create a simple and fresh summery feel.
Woot woot! It’s summer home tour day!
I always love sharing this seasonal tour… perhaps because it means that summer is just around the corner for us. We’ve got less than three weeks of school left around here and then we are free and clear until Labour day.
Well, let’s be real. Being home all summer with my 11 and 8 year old will be a lot of fun, but I certainly won’t be free and clear. Truly, though, I’m looking forward to not packing lunches and to sleeping in (even if it’s just until 8 am!), walking our dog through the forest trails behind our house at our leisure, camping trips and beach days, popsicles and barbeques and afternoons in our fun new pool.
Bring it on!
This week nearly 40 bloggers are sharing their home tours as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Summer Series! Make sure to check out who is next up on this tour series at the bottom of my post:)
Things don’t look super different around here since spring, at least in the areas we are touring today; and except for the sneak peak you’re about to get at our dining room (now that the kitchen is underway and we are down a wall). And guess what?!!? I shopped the house this year and didn’t buy a bunch of new stuff to decorate for summer. I shopped my decor and pillow collection and brought out all the blues and greens, threw in a bunch of greenery, and called it done. Simple for summer…
Did you get a chance to check out the summer mantel decor I shared last week? If not, you can check it out here – the tropical leaf art are actually free printables that I shared with all my email subscribers!
Possibly one of our very favourite parts about this house is that it backs onto a beautiful protected forest area full of trails… and the ferns were all collected from right behind our house. Why spend money at the florist when they’re so beautiful (and free!).
This fig tree is not real! I found it at my local HomeSense a few weeks back. I love it and I think it has even grown on my husband who was pretty unsure about it at first. I moved the etagere shelf to the other end of the room and replaced it with the faux fig and I think it gives the whole mantel more breathing room.
I have a lot of readers who email or message me and ask about our sectional sofa. It’s part of the Ikea Farlov series, and we really do like it. At first it took a bit of time to get the cushions fully fluffed and comfy and, yes, being white, I do have to wash the slipcovers. But I’m always amazed by how well they come out! I think I’ll need to write a more in-depth review of it shortly. We have the chairs and a sofa from the same series.
The previous owners very kindly left us their piano and I think our youngest will start lessons next fall. We’ve made a little space for it behind the sofa as well as moved our etagere shelf back here.
I promise I will very soon share the DIY of our square moulding walls – so far we have done this wall paneling treatment in the foyer, our bedroom, and now the dining room as well!
My boy’s favourite part of our living area is their little TV nook. We have a SMART TV so they love watching their favourite Youtube mountain bike videos here when they take a break from actually being out biking or playing sports.
The TV area flows right into our NEWLY OPENED UP kitchen and dining room. Next week I’ll start sharing all the details on the kitchen (which is currently in-process), but here is a little sneak peak at our new dining room…
I think our new oversized drum chandelier from build.com might be my favourite part!
What do you think of it? I’m seriously smitten.
Oh ya, and that panelled wall, right?
I know… that’s my other fave. As I mentioned, I promise I’ll share the details on how we did it really soon!
See something you love? I’ve collected my sources (or similar finds) for you!
Next up today on the Seasonal Simplicity Summer Home tour is Bre from Rooms FOR Rent. I know you will absolutely love her relaxed, comfortable, and beautifully collected style. Her home always makes me so happy to snoop into! Pop over there to take in all the gorgeous-ness for yourself…

WOW – loving that pendant lamp with the gold interior!!!! Your panelling and all your summer pillows and florals are just beautiful my friend! Pinned! Happy SUMMER!!! xo Heather
Krista,
I want to make/buy the tray you have on your coffee table – the round one with the rope edging and rope handles. Did you make it? I can see the rope is held on with clamps. Tell me where you got it – perhaps do a tutorial if you made it. Thanks so much.
Hi Barbara,
I didn’t make it – I bought it at HomeSense – but I think it could be DIY’ed. It is a solid, flat piece of wood and the rope is wired – it looks like smaller rope was wrapped around wire and then bent to create the rounded handle shape. It is just held on using metal clips and screws. I can email you some closer pictures of it, if that would help.
