Perfection Chair with Gold Wax & Gold Dipped Legs
Come see how I transformed this chair into a beautiful perfection chair with gold details.
I have long been a lover of the color purple. It was one of our wedding colors… the color of our the bedroom in our first house… and I always thought it would be perfect in a little girl’s nursery. Well, it seems that nursery is not on the horizon at this point but I still love me some purple.
Needless to say I was totally thrilled when Country Chic Paint recently sent me a sample sized jar of their colour “Perfection”. It is a stunning version of ‘radiant orchid’, and I was curious to see what exactly I could transform with only a sample jar. Well, here she is folks….a Perfection Chair with Gold Wax and Gold Dipped Legs.
I started out with a chair an old chair that I had painted about a year ago. Unfortunately it had gotten a little damaged so it was time for a freshen up. It also had such a great shape that I thought it would look stunning in Perfection. I used only the sample jar for this entire chair project!!
It started out like this…
I had originally painted the legs with a dipped green effect but wanted to do dipped gold this time, so I taped off a line….
And then went to town painting my Perfection.
I did three paint coats, letting it dry a few hours between each coat.
On the third coat of paint I only let the paint dry for about an hour and then used some sand paper to distress the edges of the chair…
Lastly, I taped off the legs again and gave the bottom portion of the legs a few coats of gold spray paint.
And finished it off with a good coat of gold wax. I brushed on a fairly thick coat, let it dry for several hours, and then buffed it off with a dry, clean, lint-free cloth.
All done!
I love distressing a piece of furniture like this that has such a great spindly shape to it.

I think it turned out stunningly and love the hit of purple and gold added to our springy entry hall. Did you notice it during our Spring Home Tour?
Oh, and I added a little perfect to that metal key on the wall too… always good to tie a color into your décor in a few places:)
Radiant Orchid – the colour of the year. Have you tried it on anything yet??
Do you love purple too? Or are you passing by purple for 2014??
Thanks for reading. And remember my housie friends, HOME isn’t built in a day. Enjoy the journey!

I haven’t been very inspired with Radiant Orchid, but I like this take on the shade. This project looks great.
Hi Aubrey! I think the Country Chic version of the colour is super pretty… and adding just a little hit of it somewhere is fun (for now…) and easy to redo (lol)! Thanks for hopping by!
Super cute! I love purple, but it’s hard to work it in sometimes. Love the chair in your entryway–looks great there!
Thanks Gretchen! It can be hard to work it in – you are right! The entry hall is always a good spot to go a little more daring, I think:) Thanks for your visit!

Beautiful! It makes me want to finally tackle my dining room chairs:)
Haha! I have been putting off finishing my ‘real’ dining room chairs for months… painting chairs takes so much work, doing one seems easy but four is a nightmare. All those spindles…. Good luck with your project! And thanks for the visit:)
I have never been a big fan of purple, but this is such a pretty color. Perfect for spring!
