Simple Cozy Fall Master Bedroom

I will show you how to make your master bedroom extra cozy with simple tips!

Things just got real around here.

It’s definitely autumn.

The lake has risen a couple of feet up the shore in the last couple of days from All. The. Rain.

Thankfully we’ve had a nice mix of sunny days as well… but as we go to bed and wake up all we can hear is the rain pounding down. And I do mean pounding.

It’s actually a relaxing sound when you’re holed up inside in your cozy bed or favourite comfy chair. It’s inspired me to bring out all the throws and blankets I own and drape them on across every possible surface.

And it also inspired me to add a whole new layer of warm cozy to our master bedroom…

A master bedroom with layers of blankets on the bed and pillows.

I’ve kept most things the same in our bedroom, but added this gorgeous extra quilt for an extra layer of warmth, coziness, and stunning pattern.

I found it at my local HomeSense – they didn’t even have it available in a King size so I just bought a full/queen size and draped it over our white down duvet. I’ve never had two cozy quilts on my bed before and I love it.

A lamp is on the side table beside the bed.

Of course, our rug is still a favourite and I’m so glad I ordered it last year when we redid our master bedroom and closet during the fall one room challenge.

Sometimes as I lay in bed at night I admire our sweet art gallery wall above the dresser and I think about repeating it somewhere else… or even moving it to the living room. I think it’s one of my favourite thrifty art display ideas, ever. {Read all the details here}.

I kept it light with soft blues and greens this fall in our bedroom, much like in the rest of the house. Just adding in a few cozy decor elements was enough to transition the seasons.

A white blanket ladder is beside the dresser and behind a plant.

There is framed artwork on the wall behind the glass.

And remember those gorgeous white chairs that used to live our in living room, but was replaced with our new Farlov chairs? One of them has found a home in here!

There is a white armchair in the corner of the bedroom with a striped pillow and blanket on the bed.

There is a graphic picture on the wall above the white armchair.

If it weren’t completely black outside when we wake up each day now, then our view would be the favourite part of the room. Those kayaks have thankfully been put away since a few days ago when I snapped this picture or else they’d be floating out in the middle of the lake by now; the water has come up that much with the rain.

A large sliding glass door is in the bedroom with a view of the lake and the dock.

So… all you have to do is add some beautiful layers of bedding, right? Happy fall! Hope you’re keeping cozy!

    1. Hi Mary,
I sent you an email earlier today with a link to an article to help you print from your iPad. Did you get that email? The prints in my bedroom are from Minted and they were purchased. I shared the details about them here: . Hope that helps!

  2. Blues and greens are my favorite colors also, they always look so clean and gorgeous together. Your art walls are wonderful., You do have a talent of how you arrange them.
I love quilts on our bed, is all we’ve used for years .Our daughter says they make the room look old fashioned and that’s ok with me. We have a bench in room Mr.Furry made me for our anniversary few years ago. On it I have a white chenille shower curtain folded up for comfort on our fannies. Got that at thrift store years ago.
Your quilt with blues and patterns and pillow covers is wonderful, love it. Looks all puffy and cozy. Your mirrored night stands are perfect, keeps room so light and airy.
I like to move furniture around from room to room, refreshes look of rooms.
    Have wonderful week

    1. Hi JaneEllen, thanks so much for your sweet comments! I totally agree – I often move smaller pieces around the house to keep things interesting. I totally agree about the blues and greens – so fresh and clean. In fact, I’m really excited about decorating for Christmas and love red and white at that time of year; but this year I’m not sure I want to let go of my blue/green scheme! Have a great week; hard to believe it’s November tomorrow!
