Ski Lodge Chic Christmas Living Room Decor

I will show you how to achieve ski lodge chic Christmas living room decor!

Cozy, cozy, cozy.

To me, that’s what cozy Christmas decor should be.

As the weather gets colder and wetter (or snowier!), there are few better feelings than curling up in the evening with a thick and fluffy blanket in front of a warm fire with the Christmas lights glowing all around. The more trees, the more lights, the better!

Cozy can follow any colour scheme that suits, whether it be neutral or all white, or full of colour and pattern. I personally love a good mix of pattern and colour, and around the holidays I crave pops of  red mixed into our coastal blue colour scheme. Especially when contrasted with fresh, crisp white!

This year I kept things pretty classic and cozy with a mix of red, white, and plaid and chose a tree design that definitely gives our living room a ski-lodge chic kind of feel. Come on in to check out the mix…

A fireplace mantel in the living room is decorated for Christmas.

And today I’ve joined up with my friend April from House by Hoff to host the final instalment of this year’s Seasonal Simplicity Home Tour series! We’ve gathered 26 bloggers together, including ourselves, to share a spot in their home decorated for the holidays. Each day this week five new bloggers are sharing their spaces, and I can’t wait to pop around and take in all the gorgeous inspiration! You can find more details and the links at the bottom of this post.

As for our living room, there have been a few changes. Furniture re-arranged, as often happens when you bring in the Christmas tree(s). But the changes this year even extended to our drapery. After adding in the crisp mix of plaids I decided that the room really needed some pattern on the walls, as well, so I added back in these indigo and white panels that I DIYed a couple of seasons back. I feel like they are the perfect frame to warm up our big window wall.

A red truck pillow is on the armchair.

I bought these giant holiday village houses many years ago now, and I like to try them in a new spot each year. Our nativity scene is by Willow Tree and we’ve put it out every year since we were first married. I love mixing in our classic favourites with new finds to keep things cozy and sentimental but fresh and fun each holiday season.

The stockings were a dollar store find! I shared more about our Christmas mantel just the other day.

There is an open shelving unit with Christmas houses on it.

A wooden star sits on the shelf.

I love these sweet seasonal throw pillows (they’re by Lucy from Craftberry Bush- you can find similar ones here). They pop so beautifully against my favourite new Ikea Farlov chairs. The huge sheepskin rug is a HomeSense find – my boys absolutely love it! It’s so soft and cozy and gives the living room a whole new feel.

Faux fur white rug is in the living room.

A turquoise table is in the living room.

Heavy, furry throws. This black and white buffalo check adds some beautiful, crisp pattern and adds a Christmas-y feel, but works well throughout the whole winter season.

A white and black heavy blanket is on the arm of the sofa.

Red truck throw pillows are on the couches.

I added this small, narrow tree in the corner of the living room and kept it light and bright by adding all kinds of white layers in the decoration and garland . The white “snowy” garland are feather dusters from the Dollarama – I learned this trick via Craftberry Bush. Maybe you saw me use them on our master bedroom tree, as well?

A decorated Christmas tree is in the corner of the room.

Wooden signs adorn the tree.

I kept the wall above the sofa really simple and just added a trio of faux boxwood wreaths… one over our wooden mirror. I have a couple of trios of faux boxwood wreaths (you’ll see one later in the week in our kitchen), and it’s always fun to find a new home for them each holiday season! The tartan throw is also a repeat from last season; I love the way the rich tones pop against our neutral sofa.

Seasonal pillows are on the couch.

There is a glass jar with a holiday village inside it.

Although I’ve changed things around in the living room a great deal for this holiday season, I’ve mainly shopped the house and used what we already owned from previous years. This little blue table used to be yellow and was in the basement; the ladder normally lives in our bedroom. The plaid blankets and furs are also from previous years. Moving around what you own and using it in new ways lets you create a fresh completely different feel in your home without spending a fortune!

A blanket ladder has blankets and antlers on it.

A side table decorated is beside the couch.

This year’s tree might be my favourite so far! Definitely a dramatic, cozy, ski-lodge chic feel.

I’ll be back tomorrow to share more about it in detail…
