I’m Dreaming of a White Kitchen…

Here is a collection of white kitchens that I am dreaming about!

The other day we had a contractor come by to give us an estimate on changing up some windows and doors in our kitchen/dining room area. This is part of a loooong discussed/debated/considered/put-off project that is also-known-as renovating our kitchen. Today I’m sharing some stunning rustic-glam-modern-country kitchen inspiration with you. Goodness knows that I have pinned enough ideas to last fifty posts on my “I heart white kitchens…and blue ones too” Pinterest board. This is just a small sampling of what ‘we’ are thinking for our kitchen!

10 Stunning White Kitchens graphic.

Here are some of the stunning white kitchens I have been pinning lately….

A white kitchen with open shelving and stainless steel appliances.

I LOVE love love the open white shelving and wooden butcher block countertops in this kitchen via Beneath My Heart

A large centre island with chairs around it in a white kitchen.

My dream would be to have a stunning sit up working island like this one via Comfree… or at least a sit up working peninsula if our layout doesn’t allow for a kitchen island.

This little peninsula via BHG will do the trick – I love these pretty eye catching vintage stools and all the white paneling in this kitchen.

A white rustic kitchen with a chandelier above a turquoise island with a wooden top.

Wouldn’t it be fun to have an island that you can paint in a vivid color like this one via Flower Patch Farm Girl… I think I would even choose the exact same shade. I also love the shaker cabinetry and the white subway tile.

An all white cabinet and countertop with black handle pulls and plates on shelves in kitchen.

This open shelving and stunning white quart counters via An Excellent Adventure totally make me drool. Seriously. I think if I could afford these counters I would be wiping them and staring at them all day long.

White cabinets, stainless steel oven and dishwasher in the large kitchen.

I love the adorable lighting over the sink and the stove is T-D-F in this stunning kitchen via Realtor.ca

There is a chalkboard wall behind the stove and open shelves on the wall plus a White Island with a wooden top.

What a cute idea to do a chalkboard backsplash!! I also love the rustic wooden island top and the push in stove in this kitchen via Flickr

A long white kitchen island with chairs and a wooden surf board above the cupboards.

How fun in this sit up bar with horizontal plank paneling in this kitchen via Ashley Gilbreath Interior Design?? Love it!! And the surfboard?? Awesome.

A glass green backsplash on the wall in the kitchen.

I really love what Cassie has done with her kitchen at Primitive and Proper – we have almost exactly the same tiles in our kitchen. Her stools are such a great color too!

A neutral kitchen with grey and white and large white dog in the kitchen.

Of course this stunner of a kitchen at The Inspired Room is totally swoon worthy. I really love the idea of little to no overhead cabinetry. I hate working at a countertop with cabinets right in my face. You??

Spacious Kitchen

Instead, open farmhouse shelving can do the trick for storage like in this beautiful blue paneled kitchen via BHG

Amazing inspiration, or what??

What do you think? Do you dream of a new kitchen? What are your essential elements??

I am thinking:

– white cabinetry
-butcher block countertops (only because we can’t afford my dream white quart counters at this point)
– an Ikea farmhouse sink
– white subway tile to the ceiling
– open shelving and no uppers on the main wall
– adding a peninsula/eating bar area

We still have a long way to go with figuring out exactly what we are going to do, but as least having a real live human being come in and look at the first step of the project is at least a REAL beginning. Installing new headers to support new large window and door openings in a load bearing wall is beyond the scope of our DIY-comfort-zone, and no matter how much you love DIY it is always critical to know your limits.

It feels kind of like we have finally planted a seed. Now we just need to water it and expose it to sunshine and let it grow a little.

Come on sunshine!

  1. Hi Krista,

Found your kitchen link on C.R.A.F.T. We put in white cabinets when building our house ten years ago, and we still love them! It’s so easy to make changes when you have a white base to build on. Our next sink will be a farmhouse; just love those! Have fun with your kitchen designing!

  2. i missed this earlier somehow! thank you SO much for the love! 🙂 we just got up our shelves this week…. almost there!!!!!!! love all of these examples- the flower patch girl kitchen is a favorite!

  3. So much fun to dream~as much as I love the look of open shelves, I would hate to keep them clean! Love love them all~the best part of a white kitchen is you can easily change out accent colors~I hope it comes your way soon!

    1. Oh no Jenna, don’t remind me about keeping them clean; you are going to disturb my fantasty! I had managed to ignore the thought of dust until you said that. Agh. Such a good point. I never clean on top of my cabinets… I can only imagine how dusty they are (okay, maybe not never, but like once a year). Thanks for coming by!!

    1. It would be amazing to have that kind of seating in the kitchen. Fingers crossed that we can squeeze it in:)

    1. Thanks Sarah – the farmhouse sink is the only thing we have made progress on. It has been in the garage since January. Nothing else has happened. lol. One day?!?

    1. I know, so much cute character in that space, isn’t there?? I love that. Some kitchens are so stunning and look like they belong in a showroom but that kitchen looks like a family lives there and LOVES it! You know what I mean?

  4. All these kitchens are so bright and cheery! We didn’t have a huge budget for our kitchen makeover so we ended up painting our cabinets white. We LOVE it! Love all the inspiration you shared here!

    1. We don’t have a huge budget for ours either Carrie… but a girl can dream:) I have a feeling it will involve a lot of paint and DIY! Thanks for popping by:)

  5. All of these are so swoon worthy! We are (it feels like) 1/300000 steps into bringing more white into our kitchen. Doing it the DIY way sure is satisfying, but it’s definitely not speedy!

    1. I hear you- ours will be a lot of DIY as well so it may take a good loooooooong time to get it finished. 2015??
