Master Bedroom Progress: Upholstered Headboard and Chic Mirrored Nightstands

Here is the progress I have made in my master bedroom, an updated upholstered headboard and mirrored nightstands that look super chic!

One Room Challenge graphic.

It’s Thursday again!

Week FOUR of the One Room Challenge.

That means that in two weeks from today this beautiful master bedroom and walk-in closet makeover should be done. Styled. Photographed. Revealed to the world.

Eek….

Have you heard of the One Room Challenge before? It is a blogger challenge hosted twice a year by Linda from Calling it Home…. during which bloggers try to makeover a room in their home in just six short weeks!

Maybe you saw my posts the last few weeks where I shared…

Well, today it’s time for a progress update… and I’m happy to report that this week I have at least a little bit of progress to share.

Our headboard arrived! And our nightstands!

And my husband was home on Sunday to help put them all together and get them into place.

I LOVE these chic mirrored nightstands. So. Much! And I got them on a really great sale which makes them even better in my books.

It’s still kind of colourless for me, right now… super white and neutral vibe.

Well, don’t worry! I haven’t pulled it all together yet.

I can’t wait to get my art and pillows and rug and pull it all together. And even more, I can’t wait to get our closet units up and that space organized.

I shared some super inspiring SMALL walk-in closets this week as I spent time dreaming and planning how ours will look:

So where are we at with things?

Last week’s big issue was the rug. I couldn’t decide on a rug, and several of my dear readers and followers commented here and on Facebook and Instagram and emailed me with your input! Yay! It was almost completely unanimous for the beautiful BLUE rug. Thank you for your input!

And since I was really leaning toward the blue as well… I went blue!

A blue rug called Barcelona.

It isn’t actually either of the choices I shared last week, but it’s pretty close to the blue one; just a bit lighter with more aqua.

I’m thinking it will look amazing with the pillows I ordered from Tonic Living. And with our creative gallery wall! I can’t wait to get that up.

So. This week’s issue.

Remember that light fixture from our dining room that I thought would be just PERFECT in our bedroom.

A chandelier light.

Ya.

Turns out that it’s way too long. We tried to install it on Sunday and it was clear that my husband was going to hit his face on it on a daily basis.

Oops. That was a little bit of miscalculation on my part. So now I’m back to the drawing board, but I think I’ve come up with a plan that involves a light I already own and a little bit of spray paint. Fingers crossed that it all turns out!

Here’s what’s left on the list:

So far, I have finalized the details on:

Master Bedroom

  • headboard
  • nightstands
  • gallery wall prints (ordered)
  • fabrics and pillows (ordered)
  • Frames and mats for the new gallery wall (ordered)
  • Select and order a large area rug
  • DIY Project: build a small upholstered bench
  • DIY Project: full length mirror makeover with matte metallic paint
  • DIY Project: paint the alternate lighting and install it
  • Sell our old headboard and rug
  • Put together the headboard and nightstands
  • Put up the new gallery wall

Walk-in Closet:

  • confirmed the delivery date for our PAX units
  • decided on the feature wall (wallpaper ordered)
  • select and order a small area rug
  • Prep, paint the walls, put up the wallpaper
  • Install the PAX units
  • Put up the new lighting
  • Organize and accessorize the close

So….

It’s still a lot. But I’m in a waiting zone! Waiting for art. Frames. Closet units. Rugs. Lighting.

Eek!

This weekend I will try to get the DIY projects tackled and in place, and then next week I will put things together as they arrive.

Hoping I have some serious progress to share with you by next Thursday!
