Warm Earthy Rustic Fall Mantel Decor

Adding coziness and warmth for fall with warm earthy rustic fall mantel decor featuring dried florals and DIY textured vases.

This year for Fall I’ve taken a big departure from my usual light and airy scheme. I’ve been really inspired lately by the darker, rustic, more warm and earthy decor I’ve been seeing and wanted to bring some of that warmth and coziness into our new build great room. The perfect place to start was the fireplace, and the rest of our living and dining room decor just kind of fell into place from there. I can’t wait to share the beautiful updates I’ve made to our new build since I last shared it with you just after moving in this past spring; I’ll be back on Monday with my Fall Home tour post. For today, I’m sharing a sneak peak at the warm, earthy rustic fall mantel decor I’ve gathered for the oversized fireplace in our great room.

As I mentioned, I’ve been super inspired lately by darker, earthier, warmer colour palettes such as this one via Country Living:

The colour wheel.

Doesn’t that just FEEL like fall? Since we decided to go with a painted kitchen island in Benjamin Moore’s Knoxville Gray (see it in this post) I’ve naturally gravitated towards decorating with slightly deeper tones in the new build. I just love how deep and rich this colour feels, though our space still feels quite light and bright due to all of the white walls and cabinetry. It’s also balanced with a lot of natural and warm wood tones. It’s such a beautiful shade, though; not quite green, not quite blue, not quite grey. A little bit of each…

A swatch of grey colour.

To change things up from our summer mantel decor, I started by gathering items I had, making a few new ones, and then bringing in a couple of new finds. I love the warm mix natural wood and yellow/gold/brown tones with all of the rustic and deep greens and blues. Several readers have asked about where we got our wooden mantel. We had it made by the same company who did our kitchen and laundry room cabinets: Namor Custom Cabinetry. I’ve also had several emails about the stone. It’s called Winter Wonder by Terracraft (CSI Stone). I love how the stone has whites and greys but also mixes in warmer tones in beige and gold.

There is a Frame TV on the mantel.

There are blue grey vases on the mantel.

Isn’t the painting displayed on our Frame TV so perfect for this fall colour palette? It’s called –

Dried corn stalks are beside a mini pumpkin on the mantel.

I shared the DIY of these textured vases last week. They are thrift store finds that I turned into pretty textured vases using leftover Knoxville Gray paint and some baking soda! Read the full tutorial in this post.

A corn husk pumpkin is beside the vases on the mantel.

The little corn husk pumpkins and dried corn were both in my “fall bin” and have made reappearances for a few years now. I think the pumpkins were from either HomeSense or Michaels, and the corn was from a local farm market store.

A banner of acorns is strung around the fireplace mantel.

I found this pretty, natural light wood bead garland at a local hardware store when I popped in to pickup some furniture stripper to use on our dining table. I can’t wait to share the DIY makeover of my Facebook garage sale dining table with you soon.

There are vases filled with dried flowers and wheat grass on the mantel.

I just love these green and beige vases and they were the only new purchase on the mantel, aside from the dried florals that are in the vases. I found them on clearance at Urban Barn and knew they’d be perfect with my warm, rustic earthy fall decor. The acorn and pine cone garland is a quick and easy DIY – you can read the tutorial in this post.

A soft green and neutral pottery vase.

Dired yellow and grass in the vase.

The dried florals were all found at HomeSense. I turned some into a pretty fall wreath, as well – pop over to this post to see it!

The stone fireplace.

Sunflowers in a vase on the table.

After so many years of everything heading towards grey, it’s lovely to add some warmer tones into my decor. I never expected to love the browns and golds so much, but I think that I especially enjoy them paired with blues and greens for a balanced feel.

Sources:

-TV: The art on the Frame TV is called. I recently updated the frame on our TV with a new white frame (that I’m thinking about spray painting gold instead – what do you think?).

-Vases: The green and beige vases on the left were a new find at Urban Barn (on clearance – yay!). The vases on the right are my DIY textured vases made from thrift store finds which I painted using leftover Knoxville Gray paint – see the full tutorial here.

-Florals: The dried florals and wheat are mainly from HomeSense, though the flowers in the tallest green vase were also on clearance at Urban Barn.

– Decor Items: I’ve had the corbels for a couple of years and was glad to find the perfect place to display them. The two little corn husk pumpkins were a HomeSense find a few years back, and the dried corn is a seasonal item I keep stored away in my fall bin during the other seasons. I picked up the beaded garland at a local Hardware store that also carries some pretty decor items after spotting it while running in to pickup supplies for a DIY.  The acorn garland was another simple DIY that I shared the tutorial for in this post.

I’ve also gathered some similar finds if you wish to create a similar look in your home!
