Are you new around here?
Well hello, then!
I’m Krista…
And I admit it. I’m a housie.
Think foodie but for houses.
Possibly certifiably OCD. ADD. DIY-it is. However you want to diagnose me.
But I’m not interested in a diagnosis.
Or medication.
I love houses. Projects. DIY. Decorating. Seasonally. Weekly, even.
Crafts. Getting organized. At least trying to.
Home Sense. Wayfair. Target.
Garage Sales and Thrift Stores.
Finding old junk. Giving it new life.
I love fabric way more then chocolate.
And maybe even more then Vampire Diaries. But that’s a tough call…
I think that repainting a room is more fun as a night out at the movies.
And there is nothing as satisfying as accessorizing a room.
I love shopping. Thrifting.
Bargain hunting. Browsing.
And I’m always thinking about how I can DIY whatever I see.
I take a ridiculous number of photos while shopping so that I can try to remember all my ideas.
If only I could add a couple more hours to the day…
Truth is…
I am a bit of a nut. But I don’t mind sharing it all.
This crazy, long winded journey to creating a home that we love.
Because after all,
I have been “this way” as long as I can remember…
When most girls were playing Barbies I was redecorating their dream house (and van)…
And when other girls were reading BOP and Sassy magazines I was pouring over the Ikea catalogue and my house plan books…
Creating to-scale drawings of my “dream” home on my big old pad of graph paper.
As an adult I realize that there is no such thing as a “dream” home and that every home we have lived in (four in twelve years) becomes our “dream” home when we add our own imprint upon it.
Whether we are decorating (or re-decorating),
completing DIY projects,
crafting, organizing, or just having fun living –
there is always something new happening around here.
And this blog is all about enjoying that journey.
In my spare time from all our “housie” and blog related exploits I juggle…
being a Mom to two boys,
teaching Kindergarten,
shuffling my boy’s to hockey and soccer,
making lunches and dinners, doing homework…
and trying to stay organized through all the daily life stuff.
I love relaxing with the hubs and getting caught up with the latest episodes of Vampire Diaries, Suits, or The Good Wife.
And I couldn’t be a housie without the support of my amazing crew:
If you are anything like me, you love snooping around other people’s houses…
So why don’t you come on in for our House Tour….
Or, check out our watery coastal paint colour palette
or see all our furniture and decor sources
Either way, I’m thrilled you came by!

I purchased your e-book but never got it.I have followed at least 3 weeks but didn’t see any others. I haven’t seen your blogs. Where are they? I’ve never seen a regular weekly e- mail. 3 how many were there so far? I resigned up. Please send e-book and catch me up. I really enjoy you and your help. It’s moved me out of being overwhelmed and stuck. I would have liked to have seen paper clutter at the end. This is a very long continuing process, I don’t how it is for anyone else. Thanks
Hi Krista – I am so thrilled that I found your amazing Tropical Leaves art on Pinterest and ended up connecting to your website. I’ve been looking for and searching for the usage clause to find out if I may be able to use your gorgeous designs on blank home decor products to sell to potential customers whom are thinking of re-decorating their homes during the COVID 19 lockdown situation. I earn 10% on the sale of a product, but I usually add a monogram or name to the product to make it uniquely there own. However, if you have a problem about me using your art for commercial purposes, I will definately NOT use them at all. It will be a pity though, because they should be seen in every home all over the world. Kindest regards, Delene Tame
Hello Delene,
Thank you for your kind words about my tropical leaf printables, but I only offer them for personal use because I purchase the clipart graphics through Etsy. You can purchase the graphics through Etsy yourself and then add wording using a design program to make your own but may need to purchase the commercial license based on how many of them you are selling – each Etsy seller generally has their licensing agreement readily available on their sellers page. Hope that helps!
Krista

Thank you so much for the Red Truck Printable. I want to use it for table direction for our Motorcycle ministry Christmas party place settings.
Hi, Krista, you really sound like a fun person. I’m a mother, grandmother and enjoy spending time with family and friends. Spending my spare time crafting. Use to do a lot of making Parachord bracelets and making jewelry until one day I came across Pocket Letter then I got more involved in finding out more about crafting. Now, I started my own small Crafting Group about 31 credible talented crafting ladies in my group. We create Junk Journals, Mini Albums, Waterfall Albums, Pocket Letters, Decorated Paper Bags, ATCoins & Cards with Holders, Tri-Fold, Junk Journal Envelope Album, and much much. We have so much fun in this group. Thank you so much for the printable. They will come in handy. Candice 🙂

Hi!! I’m not sure if my post went thru, But LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEEE your ideas!!!!!!!! I re did my pantry closet, after seeing what you showed on here…….WOW! You have made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU! 🙂
Hi Krista, just found your blog and know I’m gonna love it!!! I’m always wondering what to do with this and that, diy, of course!!! Living on a farm here in SC, makes it a natural paradise, with ponds and horses and plenty of room for creativity! Definitely look forward to using some of your beautiful ideas!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!!!
I stumbled onto your blog this AM. Love it. I am a retired nurse. I love your colors and ideas. Right now I am a “mess”. I am going to try your challenge. After so many years of gathering I don’t know where to start so I make a mess. I can organize someone else, but not me. I am going to try. Thanks for the tips.
I’m SOOOO glad that I found your page. I’m a lot like you in wanting this to be homey and look good. I recently retired from 19 years in Emergency Medicine and as ready to live my life. I love yard sales, thrift stores, and auctions. A lot of people don’t look at furniture or other thrift store finds like I do; I look at them and see what I can make them be. Love pastel colors and occasionally go a little wild with Boho, Patina; something different especially if I want to add something different that no one else has done. I have a booth in a local consignment shop that I recently started and I think the name is truly who I am. It’s called “A Different Side of Me”. And it definitely is. Thanks for all the beautiful colors and you have inspired me to continue to make old things new again.
Krista, your home is lovely! Thanks for the tour. My name is Kim and i so appreciate all of your amazing tips on organizing all of my rooms. You are awesome. Best Blog Ever. I think your 10 week challenge will help keep me on task because right now i have created more chaos trying to do too many areas at once. I have 2 daughters in college and we have too many clothes., shoes and bags!
I am so looking forward to begin one of your amazing organization techniques that you have on blog and pinterest. I still have to pick out exactly which combo will be the perfect match for me and my family. I’m totally loving the fact I get to tell my husband that….
“I HONESTLY HAD TO BUY ALL OF THIS STUFF IN ORDER FOR ME TO TRANSFORM MY FUNCTIONAL WALL IN WHICH HAS BEEN CUSTOM MADE FOR OUR FAMILY SO I CAN BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED, JUST LIKE YOU WISHED I WOULD BE.”
The only sound we’re gonna be hearing is the cricket – cricket……cricket!!! So looking forward to getting started this weekend. I’ll be sending you a before and after pic of transformation and results after your 10 week challenge.
Hi love the fall tour. Would you mind sharing where dis you get the dining room rug? Ive been looking for one but everytime i find one i like the reviews are not that good . Thanks
Hi Krista,
I absolutely LOVE your ‘Hello Spring’ water colour prints. I’m wondering if it is possible to have access to the pictures without the writing. I’m hoping to customize the writing on them so I can use them as labels in my classroom.
Thanks so much!
Julie
Hi Julie,
I think you are talking about the spring peonies? Or are you talking about the watercolour dots? Both of them are clipart graphics that I bought Etsy and added the font to create the printables. I hope that helps!
Thanks,
Krista
I stumbled upon your blog this am and it’s like we have the same brain. I’m so happy to have found you. I too teach kindergarten, am a property manager, and find pleasure in DIY over anything else. Your pins are my pins. Lucky me.
Hello Krista I love your emvelope pillows. I took notes. im going to enhance my new sofa with some fresh pil pillows tomorrow. thanks for the inspiration. Debbi
LOVE LOVE LOVE the 10 week house organization plan. I do have ADD and started cleaning and purging this weekend and found myself making a bigger mess.
I stumbled across this today and will be putting it to use. I always felt this was the way to do it but have never been able to organize the plan to enact it.
I’m taking the challenge!
I’ve been following your blog for quite a while and finally read your About page. We sound very similar and I’m a kindergarten teacher too! I just wanted to reach out and say hello!
So nice to “meet” you Becca! I think all kindie teachers must be deep down creative types!
Love, Love, LOVE your blog! So many great ideas!
Thank you so much!!
How do you hang a hook that has it on the back of the hook already. It looks like a large hole then you slide the bolt up into it.
Thank you for your creativity and generosity in sharing your free printables. I have printed and framed some and it has freshened up my kitchen. Thank you again.
Glad you can enjoy them!!
Hi Krista – What window treatment would you suggest for a small family room in the high desert of Boise ID? I want privacy @ night – but would prefer not to have any curtains or blinds @ all! I’d like the look to “disappear” so to speak. Thanks for your help!!!
Hi Mary, I think your best bet would be to go to your local blinds store and see if they have some privacy roller or silhouette blinds that pack up as tightly to the top of your window as possible. That would give you the privacy that you want at night without taking up very much of your window frame. Best of luck finding something that will work for you!
I am SO GLAD I found your blog! It is beyond BEAUTIFUL, pretty, and elegant! I could get lost in reading it at length – but need to check back after WORK!! I have a feeling your blog will be my next BINGE READ!! Can’t wait!! Well done! Jennifer Vollmuth
