White Flocked Christmas Tree With Neutral Wood Accents
Are you planning to decorate for Christmas with a white flocked Christmas tree this year? Today I’m sharing how I decorated our white flocked Christmas tree with neutral wood accents.
What are you most looking forward to this Christmas season? Without much of the usual holiday hoopla such as parties, concerts and large-scale celebrations, it seems that our holiday celebrations are being pared down to just the holiday essentials. As disappointing it can be to relinquish those traditions that we look forward to each coming year, there is a hidden gift in the idea of focusing only on that which is nearest and dearest. And decorating our homes to be a cozy and welcoming haven during the holidays is a way of reframing a difficult year into a beautiful holiday season in which we can create new and different memories together.
With what a crazy year it’s been I’m definitely welcoming in all things calm and cozy about now. Living in the cabin this Christmas means that we are simplifying our usual Christmas decor and I’ve gravitated towards a much more soft neutral palette than I’ve ever used. We recently decorated our white flocked Christmas tree with neutral wood accents and I love the rustic yet elegant neutral feel of our Christmas tree decor. Today I’m sharing our white flocked Christmas tree decorated with neutral wood accents, and I hope you’ll find some inspiration for your own holiday decor this year. I’m also joining some of my talented blogging friends who are sharing their Christmas tree decor ideas with you today – be sure to check out the bottom of this post for all of their gorgeous trees.
With the small space that we have in the cabin, we’ve elected to just have one tree this year and in the interest of having those Christmas lights glowing for as many weeks as possible it had to be a faux Christmas tree. I decided to use our flocked tree rather than our evergreen tree, as I wanted to lighten up the overall feel of our Christmas decor and keep it light and natural with a rustic chic feel. Although it doesn’t offer much contrast, I love the way that the white and wood ornaments play off against the white flocked tree creating a very calming and relaxed look. It is elegant yet rustic; calm yet full of interest and texture; light and airy but still imparts a coziness and warmth for the holidays.
The tree is covered with white and wooden ornaments. I love the way that all of the natural wood tones tie in with the wood that runs throughout the cabin in our flooring, posts, beams, railings, and window trim and baseboards. The tree skirt is a new find this year (one of only two new things I purchased for the holiday season) and I picked it up at Michael’s on a BOGO deal.
I shared how I made these simple DIY wood beaded ornaments in a post yesterday…
All of the white tree ornaments and decor add interest and texture while keeping the white flocked Christmas tree feeling light, natural, and neutral. One of my favourite things to do on a Christmas tree is add oversized and unexpected items, like these giant feet plaques and the white deer sticking out of the side of the tree…
To me, this tree feels like “cabin chic” or “rustic elegance”.
I always love to fill up our Christmas trees with extra boughs, and this year was no different. So I probably added in about 20 extra flocked boughs that I picked up at the dollar store a couple of years back. I also added in some white “berry” boughs in various places, and topped the whole thing off with some felt ball “boughs” rather than a traditional star or angel. However, I like the interesting texture and shape it adds to the top of the tree and keeps things from feeling formal or stuffy (not that they would, anyhow… with all those oversized ornaments). What is your favourite way to top a tree?
