Main Bathroom Makeover Reveal
I am very excited to share my main bathroom makeover in a boho chic style!
Yup.
It’s here!
Today is makeover reveal day. Our main bathroom makeover reveal.
If you have been following for a while, then you know that I am currently taking part in the One Room Challenge through Linda’s blog Calling it Home. The idea of this fun challenge is to completely make-over one room in your home within a six week timeline.
When we started out, the main bathroom had been renovated three years ago when we first moved into this house. It was cute and worked well as a little boys’ bathroom (which it is); but it is also our main and guest bathroom so I wanted to give it a fresh feel that fit more with the updated design scheme in the rest of the house.
Since the “bones” were basically going to remain the same, the changes were just decorative. We changed out the shower head; shopped for some new accessories and a shower curtain; painted the walls; added a DIY rustic shelf; and put all the pieces back together.
And here is how the bathroom looks now…
I’m calling this bathroom boho chic because of the bright medallion shower curtain and the eclectic mix of homey accessories. This rhinoceros head is one of my favourite new pieces; I think it is such a fun and quirky addition to the space.
If you were following along through the whole decor process, then you might remember I had a couple of options for the shower curtain. I ended up going with this stunning bright coral medallion one- I just loved the bold pattern and colour so much. I took back the more brightly coloured towels and accessories and went with quite a few white accents to balance out the busy bright pattern of the shower curtain.
My little DIY Arrow Painted Stool still has a home in this bathroom – I love the way it has become more naturally distressed over time.
Vintage glass jars that I picked up at a garage sale have been filled with soaps, cotton balls, and q-tips.
This faux pulldown vintage looking map of New York is another little DIY that I just finished for this reveal – I will be back soon to share how I made it.
Well?!?
It’s done!
I am thrilled with how it turned out- and I think it fits much better with the look I’m going for in the rest of the house.

Here are the DIYs that went into this bathroom makeover reveal…

So cute! Where did you get your shower curtain from? I’m sorry if someone already asked this, I can’t seem to see the comments section on my computer.
Thanks!
Hi Kristen – I bought it as a store called Home Outfitters, but the brand is Jessica Simpson. Hopefully that helps you track it down!
Hi Kristen! I found the shower curtain online – http://rstyle.me/~8SOOY. Thanks!

Hi! Where did you get the shower curtain? I love it!
Hi Linda,
The shower curtain is from a store called Home Outfitters. It is Jessica Simpson brand- so that may help if you search for it elsewhere. It’s definitely one of my favourite parts of the room:)

Love your makeover! I might need a cute stripe stool in my life:)
Thank you Sherry! I love that little stool:)
I really love the bathroom! What stands out to me is the way the mirror is framed out. I am preparing to frame out my mirror. Is this a DIY project you completed in the past? I would love to see the tutorial!

Hi Whitney – I bought the shower curtain at a store called Home Outfitters. It is Jessica Simpson brand so you might be able to find other sources for it online!

Wow, what a cool bathroom! Love it!!
So fun, Krista! I LOVE that shower curtain and that map on the wall! I could have never imagined this up, but it’s beautiful! And that hippo is way too cute.
Love this bathroom now! The navy blue is beautiful but that rino head makes it spectacular, I love quirky touches like that!
I just love the update you did to this bathroom. The shower curtain is so bright and cheerful. Love, love, love the navy walls and all your accessories.
I love that red shower curtain! It’s the perfect pop of color in your bathroom. And the metal rhino is great!!
It’s amazing how some paint and a few new accessories can really change a space! I love the new look! Great job 🙂
I love your bathroom’s new grown-up look! The rhino is awesome and I’m in love with that shower curtain. The whole space is so great Krista!
Love the decorative changes you made to your main bathroom, Krista! That shower curtain is so pretty. Gotta love that “don’t forget to flush” sign. Congrats on your makeover!
I love how your bathroom turned out, and you’re right, that rhino head is awesome! Although your bathroom looked great to begin with, it looks even better now (and is totally welcoming for guests as well). Beautiful job!
The rhino head and shower curtain are my favorite additions! The bones were already pretty awesome. What a great ORC start and finish.
Really great job. I love the sophistication and color of the space.
Your bathroom is gorgeous an I love the remodel that you did a few years ago! I love all the change in decor and detail within the room! Love it!
Oh Krista it looks soooo awesome! I love how talented you are at bringing a space together! The rhino is so fun and I love the rustic shelf and the map!! Great job!!
Love the paint color Krista especially with that awesome shower curtain. The soft whites compliment both beautifully!
Like you, our bathroom also serves as the main and guest bathroom. We’re planning on giving it a refresh over the winter and currently in the design stages. I’m also swooning over your floor tiles and wondering where you got them?
Hi Marie! Thanks for your sweet words:) The floor tiles run throughout a lot of our main floor- they are the same in the entry hall, kitchen, long hallway, and laundry room. We were super fortunate that they had already been recently installed when we bought this house so I am not sure where they are from. But I have seen a similar style at The Home Depot. They measure 12 x 24″. Good luck with your refresh!! I’m glad I got this one finished before the holidays:)
Krista, I love everything about your bathroom. The color on the wall is so exciting.
How fun to have binoculars in a bathroom (just in case you want a closer look, right?)
Hi Betty! Oh, that’s funny. Good point. Let’s hope my boys don’t think of that:) lol! I love my old binoculars – I have a few pairs. And somehow I try to integrate them into all kinds of random design vignettes.
What a great makeover, Krista! I am in love with your shower curtain! so fun! And that dude on your wall..:-) Fabulous!!
Ya, he is pretty funny, right? I think he was the perfect finishing touch:) Thanks Aniko!
I LOVE the new look! It definitely flows so much better now with the rest of your house. And I am really digging the hardware on your vanity – even though I know you had it before. I feel like it shines now!
Thanks Sarah- I love it so much more now!
oooh la la! I love the mix of materials in this room! The pulls, the shelf, the dark paint contrast next to the white, next to the vibrant shower curtain…come on! It is just beautiful!
Aw, thanks! Your comment made my day!
i too love the bohemian feel you created. I love that you were able to use some items you already had. It looks terrific!
I always try to “shop the house” for those finishing touches! Sometimes hoarding those garage sale finds pays off:)
Love, love the boho feel and how you pulled it all together, Krista. Two hennaed thumbs up! Cheers, Ardith
Aw, thanks Ardith! I’m loving how it came out, too!!
That chunky hardware is SO good! I love this space! Great job!!
