Master Bedroom Makeover Reveal
You guys!
I’m so excited!! It’s my favourite kind of post today… a big REVEAL post!
After the last six weeks of planning, organizing, ordering, prepping, allan-wrenching, building, installing, art-hanging, and DIYing… it’s all done!
Our bedroom has a completely different look and feel then it did six weeks ago. Our closet is beautiful and organized. I absolutely love it. Love. it. all.
And I can’t wait to share it with you today!
Have you heard of the One Room Challenge before? It is a blogger challenge hosted twice a year by Linda from Calling it Home…. Bloggers try to makeover a room in their home over six short weeks!
And really, it’s four weeks, because the first week is where we share our plan and the last week is our reveal.
So far in this process I have shared…
And do you remember the before? Of our bedroom… It was cottagey and bright and cheery; but after a few years I started to crave something more chic and mature. I wanted something crisp and bright and with hits of colour (blues and greens!) but with lots of whites and creams for balance.
And did you see our closet before… {eek!!!}
And now… today… the Reveal!!
Come on in!
Well! What do you think of the rug that I finally went with? (if you can’t find this one in stock, this one is so similar!) Guess what? It’s actually the same rug series as the runner we have in our kitchen. And it’s quite a bit larger then our old rug; I was amazed at how much bigger it makes the room feel.
I love the Palatine tufted upholstered headboard that I ordered from Wayfair.ca so much! The neutral colour is the perfect backdrop for all the pops of colour in the space… (I’ve got a round-up of other upholstered headboards here if you want more inspiration).
We added the floor to ceiling board and batten behind the bed a couple of years ago as well, and even though shiplap is all the rage these days, I still love the classic look of some good ol’ b&b.
Oh, and these nightstands?!!? #allthehearteyes
The art I chose for above the mirrored nightstands is called Tide Pool I and Tide Pool II from Minted.
The new pillow covers that I ordered from Tonic Living actually started the whole scheme for this room. I love to start my design plans with fabric… something I picked up from my years of watching Sarah Richardson, I think. I fell in love with Windsor Park, Palm and ordered two square back pillows in that print, but they didn’t have an extra long pillow in my favourite second fabric: Zia Birch, Navy.
I made these DIY blackout lined grommet topped drapes in a white linen few years back and shared the tutorial if you are looking to make some of your own!
This stool!
I’m so excited about how well it turned out! I love the fabric we upholstered it in – Mill Reef, Palm from Tonic Living and painted the base with Modern Masters Matte Metallic in Warm Silver.
It’s a DIY that I will share all the details about really soon…. promise.
That light fixture!
Do you see the post about changing that from black to gold??
And the updated gallery wall! What do you think!?!
I love all the art that I ordered from Minted {don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the bottom of this post!!}. I’m going to be sharing all about how I kept costs low in my framing in a separate post, as well.
The other day I shared our newly made over mirror that I painted with Modern Masters Matte Metallic Paint in Platinum Silver and Gold Rush. I think the two toned faux aged finish of it draws together the different metals in the room.
The best part?! Right now Modern Masters is having a BOGO sale, so you can get two colours for the price of one!!
Today I’m going to give you a sneak peak at the closet; but there is so much to show in there that I want to dedicate a whole post to it!
I think my favourite part; aside from the amazing storage units, of course, is the fun wallpaper design called The Palms in White that I ordered from Walls Need Love!

Such a beautiful room! I love the paint color. I’m in the process of helping my daughter choose paint, and I just posted a comment on another of your posts! I think I will have to add Seafoam to our list of possible. On the chip, I thought it looked greenish, but it looks more blue in your room. I wonder if it would go with red oak trim? What do you think? (She doesn’t want to paint it…)
OMG! The transformation is amazing. I’m absolutely in love with everything about this space. I wish I could transport this whole room to my house.
I was unable to enter the giveaway..sadly.
No form to enter.
But, love your bedroom.
A couple of the prints, the mirrored nightstand, palm print wallpaper..and especially the rug.
I followed the link for rug..one was broke and the other not the right rug.
Lol..thanks anyway
Hi Vickie! Thanks for your sweet comments! The giveaway was only on for the first couple of weeks after the post went live – I just went back and removed that from the title so it isn’t confusing for people. The rug links are hard to keep up with – they seem to change the name of it often! I’ve tracked down an updated link for you on it: Rug Hope that helps! aff link
Your bedroom is beautiful and I just love all the natural light you get in there!
Thank you so much! Natural light always makes everything better!
Love it! Great job! Can you send me the exact link for the rug in your bedroom? The link in your post takes me to Wayfair but not the rug itself, just a general rug page. I can’t find it online.
Where did you get your bed linens from? I’m loving the texture.
Krista! I love, love, love how your bedroom turned out! It’s so sophisticated and fresh. Seriously swooning!!!
STUNNING, Krista!!!! I love how bright and cheery it is! Swooning hard over that rug!
Amazing makeover. Your bedroom is looking fabulous. Thank you for linking with us at #HomeMattersParty .
What a beautiful room with gorgeous colors! Love the rug!

Lovely! What size are the prints from minted above the tv? And where did you buy the frames/mats? Thanks!
It’s so relaxing looking! You did a great job creating a retreat! I love your rug choice. The aqua looks so good!
What a beautiful room! Love how the rug, pictures and pillows pull it all together. Thanks for linking up to Merry Monday! Sharing on FB! Have a great week!
Kim
Thank you so much Kim! And thanks for the share!!
This is such a calm space, yet your bold color choices put it over the top. Those pillows have me giving them all the heart eyes- just lovely! I am right with you on the math of the “6 week” ORC… when you are a procrastinating multi-tasker like me… well let’s just say it’s even shorter than 4 weeks! ha. But- of course it’s such great motivation to get to work on a space. I have to say I just love that pop of wall paper in your closet. It’s all just lovely. xo
Thank you so much!! It is so motivating to get a project finished in a short period of time, isn’t it?!? I love that about the ORC!
Krista, I knew this would’ve been beautiful because you always decorate so colorfully : ). I love it…so serene!
