Our Christmas Home Tour Through the Years
I love looking back at our Christmas home tours throughout the years. Have a look at some of my favourite looks!
Today’s post is definitely bittersweet.
As we closed on the sale of our house last Friday, I had a few melancholy days remembering all the years of sweet, joyful memories we have made there as a family. Christmas being a favourite time of year, it is also a harder time to uproot and leave a place that that you have loved.
So for the first day of this year’s Seasonal Simplicity home tour series I’ve decided to share a glimpse back at the last few Christmas’ pasts in our old home. It was fun for me to look back and remember how it’s looked over the years past and to remember the holidays full of love and shared memories that we’ve had in this cozy home.
But come Friday, I’ll be back to share a glimpse of Christmas future with you, as I share the first peak at our new home all decked out for the holiday season!
If you’ve hopped over from Tauni Everett, then welcome! I’m Krista, and I’m thrilled to be hosting the Seasonal Simplicity Christmas Home Tour Series this week. All week long over 40 bloggers are sharing beautiful and inspiration Christmas decor ideas and their holiday home tours. Don’t forget to check out all the gorgeous ideas at the bottom of this post.
As I take this walk back through our home’s Christmas past, today I’m sharing a glimpse at our home tours from 2017, 2016, and 2015. I’d love to hear which year of holiday decor you liked the most!
Our Christmas home in 2017…
Last year I went with a cabin cozy plaid style in our Christmas decor. “Ski lodge chic” I called it. Lots of greenery and Christmas garlands, and plaid, plaid everywhere.
I found these paper cutouts of houses at the dollar store!
I definitely went a bit over the top with the Christmas tree decor; lots of oversized graphic ornaments – and some things that weren’t ornaments at all but that I turned into ornaments.
Lots of pop of traditional green and red I love these Christmas wreaths…
Our Christmas home in 2016…
I went with a similar style in 2016 using some traditional Christmas patterns, included buffalo check, mixed with my signature blues.
This was the first year that I got a flocked Christmas tree, and it was my favourite one that year.
I decorated the big tree with lots of red and white and natural ornaments as well as a plaid ribbon.
Our Christmas Home in 2015…
This was the year before we got our fireplace, but the first year we had our kitchen renovation completed in time for Christmas. The walls in the living and dining room were still painted Whispering Spring, and we had the Ektorp sectional sofa in the living room and no fireplace, yet. This was also the first year that I got our 9′ tree, and it had a was decked out with holiday blues and natural tones. Looking back it looks absolutely sparse compared to last year’s tree decor.
The decor may have changed a lot over the years, but what didn’t change was my favourite memories from the holiday season. I love the images of my boys standing in front of the tree all lit up more then any other vignette or shot I’ve ever taken.
Next up on today’s Christmas home tour hop is Jen’s beautiful blue and copper Christmas tour over at House of Wood…
